Mayor Rocky Anderson Freedom Forum
One of my favorite projects while I was at the Mayor’s office, was this Freedom Forum, Freedom to Criticize Government.
Which was inspired by the national praise (DailyKos), but also, all the local “stuff” Rocky took for inviting others to, and speaking at the anti-war protest on August 22, while president Bush was in SLC speaking at the VFW National Convention.
This was an amazing night. The place was packed! Ed Firmage sat next to Paul Mero (Sutherland Institute) on a panel that included none other than blogger Ken Bingham of Oblogatory Anecdotes.
You can watch the streaming video.
Ed Firmage was amazing! His closing statement was tearful and inspired. A MUST see.
I highly recommend listening to Reverend Dan Webster at approx. 1hr, 5 mins. Hands down the best articulation of the danger of mixing politics and religion.

I thought that was a pretty good forum myself. Does Rocky have any more forums planned?

We may have been one of the first big stones in the levy failure of our times.

I thought that blogger guy was really great. (C;
The Freedom Forum was a really fun experience. I would do it again if asked. Thanks Cliff for giving the link for the streaming video. It is really weird to watch yourself however.

[...] Progressive Utah is alive and well, and nobody knows it. Markos was surprised to learn that ThankyouHarryTaylor.org - mentioned in the most recent issue of Rolling Stone Magazine – was given birth right here in Salt Lake by Greg Felice who bears an uncanny resemblance to Markos. See photo below. The progressive Utah blogs dominate the space in Utah. While only four of us were there including Ethan Millard of SLC Spin and Bob Aagard of “The World According to Meâ€, and Robert Miller of Utah Amicus. Pictured below with our leader. I’ve done my best to list all of the active Utah political blogs including conservative ones. Sadly, Oblogatory Anectdotes is the only one, and sadder still, is that Ken Bingham is MIA. It would not be surprised if he has gone underground while transitioning from Republican-talking-points regurgitator to born-again liberal as he, despite the neocon stereotype of meany, he is in fact one of the sweetest guys I know. You can see that duality in his the video here. [...]
