This is wonderful! “Rocky” Anderson moderating a panel discussion about detainees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???
This guy is an unapologetic Leftist and an anti-war (read “Anti American”) no-nothing. And he will act as a moderator?????!!!!! The definition of “moderator” is…..”one who arbitrates, mediator;…the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting….”etc.
We are at war and we don’t need this kind of ill-informed leftist playing “let’s pretend” while working to help undermine this nation during wartime.

Mighty Man
I don’t suppose I need to remind you that a majority of Americans believe this occupation of Iraq is being handled badly if not an outrageous mistake.
Naturally, torture is wrong, and according to Bush we don’t torture. But of course we do. Are we to stand by and watch as the administration conducts illegal interrogations in a ill-conceived if not mythical war in the name of our country?
As Americans, we are compelled to stand up and demand our government conduct itself in accordance with our standards of human rights. Besides, torture doesn’t work and only puts our soldiers at risk.

Cliff,
Your reply is unresponsive: Will your group replace Rock-head with someone who is
a true moderator? Someone who is a honest moderator without an ax to grind. Your claim that “the administration conducts illegal interrogations” has no basis in fact.
You describe this as a “mythical war in the name of our country.” Ask the families of the victims of 9-11 if this is a “mythical war.”
Your assertions about torture have about as much validity as the “U.N. Human Rights Commission” ’s so-called “18 month study by five independent scientists, lawyers and academics” which reached that conclusion minus a willingness even to visit the Guantanamo despite invitations to do so.
Speaking of the United Nations, The UN itself is an embarrassment in this time of Terrorist warfare. As a former President of the United Nations Association of Utah I can tell you that this institution is damaging to free countries around the glove and should be abolished.
As a former journalist and a former A liberal Democrat I can tell you that today’s mainstream news media are propagandists and the public’s apprehension about the war is tainted by such media’s slanted anti U.S. bias.
Had the news media after Pearl Harbor behaved the way the mainstream media of this era “report the news”, Europe would still be under control of the Nazis, and Japan would own Hawaii, much of China, and the U.S. would be occupied with Oriental Dictators.
Good luck In finding a moderator and achieving an honest review absent the Propaganda you are already spouting.

Wow! Mighty Man is a piece of work we Utahns can and should be proud of. His post summarizes remarkably the backward, uninformed positions that only we “true patriots” can and do appreciate. Thank you, Mighty Man, for reminding me just how far we liberal Democrats have to go before we win the war on ignorance and closed-mindedness in this state and country. Thank you also for reminding me to attend the discussion on Sunday about torture and Guantanamo Bay; there is no doubt in my mind that I will learn a thing or two, whether I agree with it or not.

Mighty Man, you sound like Barry Goldwater:
“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. ”
Why don’t we quit pussyfooting around and just go ahead and nuke em all till they glow?
N.B. With all that manly-man courage and power-projection, how about you scooting down to the Armed Forces Recruiting Center and signing up for, say, Special Forces? You know, put your money where your mouth is.

I am opposed to this war, on moral grounds and because it is abundantly clear to anyone who reads ANY paper, that our intelligence data that Bush used to justify this aggression was incredibly flawed.
I support the troops unequivocally – I was married to a soldier for quite some time.
That said, the right thing to do is end this damn mess and bring them home.
How do we condone torturing them and not expect them to reciprocate?
This is madness and anyone with a brain should see that.
I will be there to listen to this important discussion.

I believe I saw Mighty Man at the Sunday forum, and what a great and eye-opening experience the forum was. Mighty Man was the dude sitting in the middle of the crowd who squirmed uncomfortably as the invited Republican speakers crapped all over the Bush administration using facts and logic virtually impossible to dispute. Don’t worry, Mighty Man. I remember having a hard time dealing with my then-hero – Bill Clinton – when I finally felt compelled to concede that he lied to the public. But I survived, as you will, too, once you concede that Bush lied, and continues to lie, to the public. The only difference is that when Clinton lied, no one died. …
