At 1:26 a.m. This Morning, A Utahn Launched A Small Movement
A friend who shall remain anonymous for the moment, put up a website Thanking Harry Taylor for the comments he made to Bush yesterday in South Carolina. (video here)
As of 8:57am MST there are 3,740 comments thanking Harry. By the time I am finished writing this post, there will be over at least 4000 comments and the sun has barely risen over the Wasatch.
THIS is a testament to the power of The Internet TODAY. More importantly, this is also a reflection of the virtual community organizing power of The Internet.
At current rate of increase of the growth of The Internet, a year from now, life here will be nothing like it will have been today. This is already the battlefield upon which the war of ideas are being play out and those who represent those ideas, as I recently mentioned here.
An amazing example: On Wednesday, Nancy Pelosi wrote a post at DailyKos suggesting she is “Taking off the gloves” and going after republicans. The resulting huge community response most likely did more to shape her understanding of what our community (sans corporate interests) wants, than any other available approach/medium, and it was organic, unorganized, uncensored, uncontrolled, transparent, and free. Fasten your seat belts.
PS: I was wrong, there are now 4,370 thanking Harry Taylor.
Update 3:50pm: 12,455 comments -Â CNN/Harry Taylor Interview here.

“For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst and provide for it.” - Patrick Henry…..and then DO something about it. That guy took a risk, he may have to face the slings of arrows of bush suppporters, but by now, we vastly outnumber them.
It would be good to remember that throughout history minorities have made their will reality through critical mass. Hopefully the Mexican Immigration with save this Country from itself.

I just listened to it. Bush is sickening. He is a pompous ASS!
April 7th, 2006 at 5:24 pm
Harry Taylor for President!
April 7th, 2006 at 5:26 pm
Bush’s performance is the very definition of a bully. If this doesn’t bury his disgusting ass, people SUCK!
April 7th, 2006 at 5:45 pm
You were speaking for a lot of people who love, not just the cloth flag, but rather the true message of this great country. The far right tells us to just pray and, by golly, they were right. Amen and Amen
April 7th, 2006 at 6:11 pm

April 7th, 2006 at 6:19 pm

April 7th, 2006 at 6:22 pm

Thank you Harry Taylor for showing these Bush cheerleaders that ordinary Americans who love their country and their freedom that we need someone who needs to consider the fact that these pep rallies of his do not represent ordinary Americans. Harry Taylor for President.
April 7th, 2006 at 6:30 pm
I only wish I would have been there to hug you in person.
Maybe all is not lost just yet…….
April 7th, 2006 at 6:31 pm
I’m giving you a standing ovation, Harry!! THANK YOU! I can now say to my grandkids “way back in 2006, in Charlotte, NC, where your grandmother was born, at a time when a wicked madman was ruling, a wonderfully brave man, Harry Taylor, stood up against the wicked madman. HArry spoke words that mere mortals only dared to think. He was our hero”.
April 7th, 2006 at 6:33 pm
Thanks Harry Taylor. Kudos for you for staying composed and getting your message out. Few people have your “guts’ !!!
April 7th, 2006 at 6:49 pm
Harry, you go guy!
You were very courageous to stand up in that room and speak up for so many Americans!
I can’t thank you enough!
April 7th, 2006 at 6:51 pm
Finally, a true hero who had the courage to stand up and speak his mind in the hostile environment he found himself in. President Bush’s rhetoric sort of reminds me of Saddam’s after Desert Storm. He convinced himself and tried to convince anyone who listened to him that he had thwarted the mighty US and won the war. Bush apologizes to no one and will not admit any errors.
April 7th, 2006 at 6:58 pm
Bless You Harry!
We needed a George Bailey to counter this George! To remind him
that we are not mindless serfs but citizens who actually believe, remember and embrace what and who this country is supposed to stand up for.
You stood up Harry! You, intelligently, graciously and proudly told him that we are here! That there is an accountability to the oaths he has taken.
As a citizen and as a woman, thanks for speaking up and standing up for me and my children.
Let’s all keep it going!

MY THANKS TO HARRY FOR BEING SO ARTICULATE AND BRAVE. HE COULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED, AT LEAST.
I NOTICED THAT BUSH TRIED TO DEFLECT THE COMMENTS WITH A JOKE (I’M NOT YOUR FAVORITE GUY) BUT HARRY WAS NOT DISTRACTED. NEVER MINE THAT BUSH DID NOT RESPOND TO ANY OF THE COMMENTS; THE WHOLE COUNTRY HEARD YOU SAID, LOUD AND CLEAR.

Thank you Harry Taylor! So many time I’ve wanted to be in a position to do what you did, but never got the chance. And, frankly, I’m not sure I’d have the courage had the opportunity arose. You spoke for millions of us and you spoke well. Thank you for speaking the truth despite George’s comedic antics to side track you. I hope millions more eventually hears your words. CountDown on MSNBC aired it this evening. I wonder what other news organizations will have the courage to air it, or print it. It’ll be up to the Net People to circulate this information as best we can. Again, Mr. Taylor, from the bottom of my heart: thank you.
April 7th, 2006 at 7:18 pm
…thank you Harry Taylor!….your comments were a breath of fresh air!….thank you for giving ‘us’ a voice!…..
April 7th, 2006 at 7:23 pm
Thank you for your braveness to meet President Bush head on. It took a lot of courage and I applaud you
April 7th, 2006 at 7:24 pm
Thanks to you here at One Utah and your friend for giving us all the opportunity to express our support for Mr. Taylor and his courage to speak truth to power in this time of suppression and intimadation.
April 7th, 2006 at 7:31 pm
Harry Truman used to say that he didn’t give people hell. He just told them the truth and they thought it was hell. Soldier on, Mr. Taylor!
April 7th, 2006 at 7:39 pm
thank you so much!
April 7th, 2006 at 7:55 pm
Wow!
You actually stood up and said everything that needed to be said to President Bush and said it so well. Thank you.
April 7th, 2006 at 7:56 pm
Harry Taylor, thank you for articulating so well what so many millions of us are thinking and wish we could have said it so eloquentlyl.
April 7th, 2006 at 8:04 pm
God Bless you Harry!
For the first time Georgie-Boy got to hear it straight!!! (Too bad he wasn’t intent on really listening.) He really screwed an opportunity to learn something new. I’m happily surprised that you (Harry) were able to say your piece. It has been far too long that this sheltered little rich boy has even
come close to hearing a dissident opinion. Now all we must do is watch for the response from the NSA or other some such organization..
April 7th, 2006 at 8:09 pm
Thank you Harry for saying the very things that have been running through my mind the past few months. I hope the President and our other elected officials were listening. In this country where freedom is supposed to be the foundation, I find myself hesitant to post my name and express these opinions in such a public forum. How sad is that?
April 7th, 2006 at 9:07 pm
The site went down at 3:21PM PST and is now a Wordpress blog.
You screwed the pooch and took the momentum and turned it into nothing.
April 7th, 2006 at 9:47 pm
Mr. Taylor,
You’re a hero. If more people had the courage you displayed, our country wouldn’t be in the mess it’s in today. Thank you for taking a stand. Thank you for saying what so many of us want to say to ‘him’. You deserve a Medal of Honor, sir. Thank you!

April 8th, 2006 at 4:15 am
Thank you Harry Taylor! You said what I could only dream of saying, and more eloquently than I ever could. I appreciate your courage and I’m inspired by your words. Well done sir!
April 8th, 2006 at 7:38 am
I’m just wild about Harry! Thank you, Harry! First- for having the courage to say what so many of us think and do not have the opportunity to vocalize directly to our “Leader-in-Chief,” Second- for being cool, calm, dignified and a gentlemen in spite of being surrounded by a roomful of Republican’s, and Third- for appearing to the world on camera as a very intelligent, articulate American who has his facts straight and has the courage to disagree with the current administration’s policies while standing next to what is the perfect example of one thing wrong with many Republicans…..she should (they all should) take a lesson from your behavior. Ever notice how they repeatedly stand behind the “religious values/Christian” card but fail to show any respect or kindness toward anyone whose opinion deviates one iota from theirs? The dichotomy of Harry and his words and the disrespectful hatefilled manner of the woman to his left speaks volumes! Thank you again, Harry!
April 8th, 2006 at 8:08 am
Bob Byrd said basically the same thing when there was risk in it, now Harry is simply making people feel good. OK. If you are liberal you need that given the vacuum of the democratic party, that have voted with bush on practically everything.
What then will come of this? Despite the outcry WHAT pray tell will you do next?
Telling bush he should be ashamed of himself is like telling a Crocodile that he shouldn’t have eaten your cow. Bet you won’t enter the river to upbraid the Croc, you will likely be handwringing on the shoreline of the river.
April 9th, 2006 at 9:52 am
Thank you, Harry Taylor, for being a man of intellignece and convictions, and having the courage to stand up and say what you believe in. They’ve arrested people for less.

In my opinion Harry Taylor has declared war on George Bush and did it much more diplomaticaly than Bush declared war on Iraq, Harry started his war with the TRUTH. Harry, I would be proud to serve in your military and lets not pull out of this war until Bush is gone from Washing, be it the end of his term or his impeachment whichever comes first. March on General Taylor.
