First couple splits over constitutional amendment banning gay marriage
An article making its way around the Internet paints a picture of how a woman who fears being beaten subtly disagrees with her husband and “decider”.
The split has been so pronounced that President Bush faces strong opposition within his own administration to a constitutional amendment that would outlaw gay marriage. The split has pitted Mr. Bush against his own wife, first lady Laura Bush.
And this time its not political. Its about principle, though maybe not in the case of the guy running the country, Dick, who is also against the proposed amendment. In Dick’s case, he’s probably just afraid to alienate one of the few people who might actually cry at his death bed; his daughter.
“What I can say is look, amending the constitution with this amendment, this piece of legislation, is a bad piece of legislation,” Miss Cheney said. “It is writing discrimination into the constitution, and, as I say, it is fundamentally wrong.”
