Lovers’ Quarrel

It’s minimally heartening to see that even Condolezza has a “sell-out” limit. Not that it is forgivable, but it is understandable that a black women might decide to compromise her principles and training and develop a certain capacity for selling-out in order to succeed in a white man’s world.

Stolen from here. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become increasingly dismayed over President Bush’s support for Israel to continue its war with Hezbollah. State Department sources said Ms. Rice has been repeatedly stymied in her attempts to pressure Israel to end strikes against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. The sources said the secretary’s trip to the Middle East last week was torpedoed by the Israeli air strike of a Lebanese village in which 25 people were killed.Condoleezza Scowls at Chimpy

“I’ve never seen her so angry,” an aide said. The U.S. response to the Israeli-Hezbollah war was said to have divided both the administration as well as the family of President George W. Bush. At the same time, it marked the first time since Ms. Rice became secretary of state that the president has overruled her. “For the last 18 months, Condi was given nearly carte blanche in setting foreign policy guidelines,” a senior government source familiar with the issue said. “All of a sudden, the president has a different opinion and he wants the last word.”

The disagreement between Mr. Bush and Ms. Rice is over the ramifications of U.S. support for Israel’s continued offensive against Lebanon. The sources said Mr. Bush believes that Israel’s failure to defeat Hezbollah would encourage Iranian adventurism in neighboring Iraq. Ms. Rice has argued that the United States would be isolated both in the Middle East and Europe at a time when the administration seeks to build a consensus against Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Instead, Ms. Rice believes the United States should engage Iran and Syria to pressure Hezbollah to end the war with Israel. Ms. Rice has argued that such an effort would result in a U.S. dialogue with Damascus and Tehran on Middle East stability. Read the whole article.

[...] Starting with Bush, the “Great Decider,” who jokes of his ignorance, and continuing on with neo-con thugs such as Rumsfeld and Cheney, America and the world have suffered enormously from inept and uninformed leadership. Iraq is but one example – a fool’s errand with no real plan, let alone follow-up contingency. Iran and Afghanistan are yet other examples. While Bush blew through his political capital like a coke-fiend in a brothel, America has likewise blown through its worldwide support following 9/11 with equal speed and recklessness. Compile these disasters with our current handling of Israel, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories and even the most ardent Bush supporter readily discern how appallingly inept this administration has performed. Heck, even Condi now sees through the crap! [...]

Iran will not pressure Hezbollah to stop the fighting because Hezbollah is Iran. Iran is pulling the strings and is the cause and instigator of the fighting between Israel and Lebonon. Iran is the key to all the instability in the Middle East including Iraq.

  3. Oblogatory Anecdotes Says:

    Iran is Hezbollah…

Evidence is mounting that Iran is pulling HezbollahÂ’s strings and is the prime mover and instigator of the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon. Last week Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad admitted to supplying the missiles…..

Amazing isn’t it that bush still heads the country? No one has challenged him to any effect. Bush doesn’t need political capital, he is past that, and I don’t see ANYONE stopping the madness he created and continues to support. Congressional democrats are rallying around the defeat “ach du lieber mann uber alles”. He will run and if he wins that is the end of the democratic party. It’s a benchmark in history folks, don’t miss the que.

As for Iran running Hezbullah that would be bad news, as china and russia are giving her all she needs. If israel cannot beat hezbullah, and we cannot pacify iraq(25 million) we would have some trouble with an iran comprised of some 80 million people, and the support of 2 nations that got the goods to give(weapons).

Think back to ‘54 and the CIA coup against Mossadegh that led to the installation of another thug we puppeted, the Shah, like we helped with Saddams’ installation in iraq, who then went on to instigate war with iran, which killed about 1 million iranians. Which the US supported. Until it didn’t, and then we wiped out most of the nation of iraq. Twice. We still haven’t won anything but enmity, and our enemies are more committed and better armed than ever before.

Payback is a *itch. It’s wet noodle time.
