…for one simple reason, Christian Burridge is a BRILLIANT lawyer (for the little guy), a brilliant man, and a devout Latter Day Saint. Christian’s grasp of the issues, politics, and public policy is legend. That’s why Cannon refuses to debate him.
On the other hand, anybody with a wit of sense knows Chris Cannon […]

A Yellow Cab driven by a tiny African man named Bale pulled up to the curb and the Air Port Taxi authorities pointed me to his taxi. I threw my stuff in the back seat and we headed out to the hotel. I was in Canada this week. It’s a […]

Pignanelli & Webb’s article last Sunday was a classic exercise in pernicious, pattycake, pomposity.
The article entitled Who is the real Democrat, Matheson or Rocky? Was in traditional P&W fashion, a series of rhetorical questions.
They and the essence of the answers follow adorned with my glib comments in italics.
1. Is Jim Matheson a real Democrat?
Pignelli […]

By William Rivers Pitt - Friday 29 September 2006
I have been told a thousand times at least, in the years I have spent reporting on the astonishing and repugnant abuses, lies and failures of the Bush administration, to watch my back. “Be careful,” people always tell me. “These people are capable of anything. Stay off […]

With all the nice weather we’ve been having lately, it’s a great idea to go for a walk. Marshall Thompson invites you to join him for part of his hike across Utah. He’ll be walking the Salt Lake Valley on Saturday, October 7th. His website, A Soldier’s Peace, has the full schedule […]

Looks like Bush lost several oppotunities to capture bin Laden before 9/11, and has plenty of warning. Seems like they let it happen.

Today the big red republican bus blew into town (Iron County).
Larry Daniel and I decided to give them a warm and hearty Iron County Democrats welcome:
Em’s Mormon Assault Vehicle (and some republicans felt assaulted!!)
Attorney General Mark Shurtleff got a kick out of the Equality Utah reference.
THEIR message? Vote Red. Vote Republican. America Needs Utah.
Stops included […]

As The New York Times reported on Sunday, in April the government produced a secret National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), “Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States.” A main conclusion of the NIE was that the Iraq war has been counterproductive in terms of the so-called Global War on Terror (GWOT). The […]

The House held hearings today on War planning. A number of very high level US Military Officers testified. These hearings will be a permanant part of history.
Listen to Gerneral Batiste’s opening statement at today’s hearing first, at the link below.

The changes to Utah’s tax code was not the only big issue in which Huntsman was involved last week. In response to the likely approval for another Utah seat in the House of Representatives, The governor also unveiled a redistricting plan for Utah’s Representatives. The plan has been met with scorn by many in both […]

I’m shocked that the previous post got so many responses while a war rages, a president and his cronies defy the Constitution, devastate human rights, and fight with tenacity the right of people to the security of their homes, their communication, their bodies; by denial of habeus corpus, eviscerating the First, Fourth, and Fifth amendments, […]

Update Monday noon: It was not my intention to offend anyone by posting these quotes from A Letter to a Christian Nation. I suppose I was being lazy and probably a bit provocative on a Sunday morning. I am happen to be personally obsessed with the recent emergence of the Evangelical Right in the […]

Listening to the floor speech of a Utah Republican legislator named Scott Wyatt over on the new Utah State House Democrats blog I was struck by the apologetic tone of his reason for voting for another tax cut for wealthy Utahns and against education. I’m soooo pleased the democrats are finally using the audio recording […]

Death by a thousand cuts. That’s how they kill elephants in Africa. Before guns were invented, and still today for tribes that have none, you just keep stabbing that elephant until it falls over.
I can’t think of another way to describe what Emily Hollingshead (Senate District 28) and Larry Daniel (House District 72) are doing […]

Only a day after I accurately described Chris Cannon as an American Traitor, he gets listed among the top five most corrupt members of Congress (the House) to watch.
A few of his close friends who used to be on that list include Randy “Duke” Cunningham, now serving an eight-year jail term for bribery and Rep. […]

(Edited from the author’s own blog)
Yesterday’s special session of the Utah legislature went about as expected. Having already obtained the support of the Republican party, Huntsman’s tax reform proposals were all passed. Nor is Huntsman through; in an interview on KCPW today, he acknowledged that the legislation passed was only a first step in his […]

Each day brings another shockingly anti-American assault on the US Constitution. Today it came from our very own Congressman Chris Cannon; you know, the one who shrilled for the party to impeach Clinton; the most expensive, national embarrasment, and waste of time in modern history, Oh, and the one just named in the top five […]

Those of you who follow the subject of the theory of Evolution of the Internet, are well familiar with the ongoing discussion surrounding the “problems” that arise in the greatest of all democracies, The Internet.
Statments in the article re-printed below are eerily similar to the statements in a recent comment on a previous post The […]

Never in my life, did I imagine I would hear a president of the United States say the things he said in the Rose Garden on Friday. George Bush owes us an apology.
What follows was ripped of from here.
Our Fearless Leader,
And that Common Article III says that there will be no outrages upon human […]

So I’m watching special congressional oversight hearings on C-Span (LOVE C-Span) that also took place today.
They’re talking about the corruption of the whole Halliburton - no-bid contractor, cost-plus abuse.
And among the witness — all former Halliburton employees — is a nice middle aged, all American workingwoman, former teacher, who worked as a bookkeeper in Iraq.
She […]
