[...] Maybe it’s because of Cannon’s endearing pleas of leniency for his former Chief of Staff David Safavian or Cannon’s repeated bigotted comments, or maybe it’s because of Cannon’s own ethics problems that no one will endorse him. [...]

[...] I guess Cannon thinks wearing his homophobia on his sleeve is good politics in Utah. Lord I hope not. I think this recent pictures says it all. Congressman Jim Matheson will be sad to see him go. But look at the bright side! We get Christian! [...]

Once again, while not meaning to bad-rap a righteous Dem, just what does Mathesons' vote for the GOP 'family values' torture bill mean? Does he approve of that 'value'? Is he just a chicken? WTF?

You're right about Write, Mouthy. I moved from Logan to SLC in 2003, and was giving the talk radio circuit a try. I couldn't stomache him for more than a couple days, given his rabid hawkishness. I've heard he's less partisan on most issues, but Wright left too bad a taste in my mouth for another shot.

I have no problem whatsoever with Pelosi as Speaker. Murtha would be fine, but Pelosi certainly wouldn't be bad. Worst case scenario, she couldn't be half as reprehensible as the Gingrich, Livingstone, Delay, Hassert mob.

The truth is we need both Burridge and Matheson. If the House does become Democratic then it would be pragmatic to have at least two representatives that can help promote Utah values, and who will not fight Democtratic leadership on every issue. We also need two leaders who will be examples to our other national Democrats.

America needs Utah, vote for Martheson and Burridge!

The stench of other Repugnicans is filling the halls of congress. (If con is the opposite of pro, then Congress is the opposite of Progress). Repugnican leadership in Washington knew about Rep. Foley's emails and IM's for a year, yet they didn't report them to the proper authorities. Failure to report such activities is a crime.

LaVar The Anti-Christ(ensen) is running around the state saying "A vote for Matheson is a vote for Nancy Pelosi." First, that's another of The Anti-Christ(ensen)'s many deceits. (Isn't he the father of all lies?) Matheson will likely vote for Murtha for Speaker.

Second, even if it were true, is she really worse than Repugnicans taking bribes á la the unholy trinity of Cunningham, Ney, and Delay (2 of the 3 in leadership), the kiddy porn of Foley, or the failing to protect the pages by Hastert (Speaker)?

Besides, LaVar Anti-Christ(ensen) is more homophobic like Foley is...Hmmmm, I wonder? (La Cage) Birds of a feather, gay bash together.

Let's see...isn't there some scripture on this? Oh yes..."Ye hypocrits, ye den of vipers." I knew it was in there somewhere.

Doug is shady when he doesn't allow Democratic opponents the time of day. Did you also listen to the hatchet job he did on anyone who was opposed to the war, the if you're magainst the war you're against the troops spin was as shady as it gets.

Cannon, Hatch and Bishop. There should be a law that prevents these three names appearing on the same page. The stench is just too overwhelming.

Cannon always has huge "undecideds". If Burridge can crack 35% that will be a major accomplishment. If he can crack 40% I will say he is a rising star that will have begun laying the ground work for Statewide office someday.

I think that if we want to win in this state, we need to put major effort into a non-federal statewide office (Guv or AG). And it has to be done when there is no incumbent. [Though when Leavitt ran for a 3rd term that was a missed golden opportunity!] Orton got about 44% for doing little then and S. Matheson received similar in '04 (he did more than Orton...but I think could have been more savvy in some respects).

While I readily agree that Cannon is one of the poorer debaters, I don't think he is afraid of debating Burrdige. Challengers always offer to do scores of debates because a)they have nothing to lose; b)they know that the incumbents are tied up in Washington; and c)they want to make the incumbent look chicken. Cannon wanted 10 debates with Orton in '96 but of course he didn't get them. I suspect Cannon will do at least one debate with Burridge before all is said and done--probably a channel 7 with Ken Verdoia or something.

Other thoughts: I don't think Doug Wright is shady...he does the stories where there is interest and there really isn't much interest in the 3rd CD now (from the general populace).

I think this blog makes contributions, but even as a Democrat (and one that has RARELY voted for any republican in 10 years), I find it overly partisan. Yes, I realize it is a partisan blog, but when the posts make wild claims such as"Burridge is legend" (when he is an unkown) or makes illogical insinuations like "Cannon has... taken money from...Foley" (So what? It's not like Folley put 'from pervert' on the check memo) I think it undermines the overall cause.

Were I still living in the 3rd CD I would vote for Burrdige, but would do so because I think he is the best candidate and represents my values, not because I believe that Cannon is necessarily "corrupt" because of his associations with others who have associations with folks like Abramoff. [In other words, If in five years someone who has donated to Burridge turns out to be the next Abramoff, I won't necessarily hold it against Burridge.

Doug is pretty shady. Christian keeps calling, but Doug keeps covering his ears. All over Utah Republicans are refusing to debate better qualified Democratic candidates.

I was called by a lady in Centerville who is putting a meet and greet together for Davis County residents at a local school. She asked me if I would prefer the opportunity to speak side by side, or to have our own booths. I explained that the residents deserved the opportunity to see Millburn and me side by side. She agreed but admitted that the Republicans don't want to do it this way.

I was not surprised when I was informed that my request was shutdown.

Even in an open seat my Republican opponent is given incumbent status by the entrenched establishment.
Cannon is also trying to duck debates with Christian.

Come on Cannon! Come on Doug! Come on Millburn! What are you afraid of?
