Easy Money & Free Root Beer

This could be the easiest $10 you ever made. Give a quick listen here.Chris Cannon

Tom Grover and KVNU are giving away $10 A&W gift certificate to anyone who can identify an elected official or advocacy group in Utah that endorses incumbent Congressman Chris Cannon UT-3. The contest runs through tonight. Here’s the audio ad.

KVNU 610am “Live and Local Radio from Logan Utah” has a really great nightly political talk show hosted by Tom Grover. Last night’s show picked up on the giagantic elephant running around Utah 3rd congressional district as I mentioned here, no one will endorse Chris Cannon in his race against Christian Burridge.

Now its important to point out that Tom Grover is no liberal. Frankly, I’m not sure what he is, but he certainly calls’em like he sees’em which you gotta love especially in Utah.

Last nights show was pretty funny. I’ve edited down the shows audio to just the segments where they talk about the contest. Listen wma (dial-up). Here’s the MP3 (but it’s not streaming very well for me).

As Tom says, “this should be a given,” I agree.

Thanks Tom!

  1. Tom Grover Says:

    Cliff,

I recieved an email from an individual wishing only to be identified as “a Republican official”:

“You wouldn’t get one from me (not that it matters). The guy is egotistical and condescending. You should have heard him lecturing the state delegates as they went to cast their vote at state convention…he (and his brother) are interested only in their personal gain, I’m confident.”

The Congressman Cannon question has absolutely nothing to do with political philosophy and everything to do with ethics and morals (and by morals I mean a complete system of values and principles, not just sex). We can’t consider philosophy until it has been established that the individual is moral, and Chris Cannon is not.

The current state of corruption has had a tremendous power to unite Americans who have divergent political philosophies, but fundamentally similar morals. I am a libertarian (small L) and Cliff is a liberal, but on a question of morality and ethics in Congress, we can agree. Hopefully we can reduce the scandals and immorality to the point that we can begin discussing and debating policy and philosophy once again. But for now, the corruption is America’s #1 problem.

We’re going to extend the contest through midnight on election night. We’re on the air for a special broadcast 7 PM - midnight and will take any contestants throughout the show.

Something tells me though that come Wednesday morning, the certificate will remain in my posession.

Cliff, can you please do something with that pict of ole’ Cannon? It’s makin’ it ever so hard to get over here! I mean when you hold a mirror up to the two halfs of his face, one of ‘em looks like he just pulled a prank and the other one seems to be saying, “I’m not decent”. Thanks in advance. C.E.

Hell, for $10.00, I’ll endorse Mr. Cannnon and quickly enrich Christian’s campaign fund. But Christian must assure me that, as his first name implies, he can fix it with God so that my endorsement of Mr. Cannon does not violate the Christian injunction against oaths, giving unto Caesar the things that Caesar already owns, supporting an illegal immoral criminal war of aggression, favoring torturing people out of their minds, unbalancing the budget 1000 times over (why not invest some of that in keeping Geneva Steel out of Japan and opening it as a spa for all of us, and for Dick Cheney, a place to take Repubicans and shoot them in the ass, mistaking them for Ducks or Turkeys when we all know they are Mastedons, and for other Republicans a place to meet other people on the take who want to buy votes that have aleady been oversold 1,000,000 times over?)!!!!! And most important: Cannon — and Christian—must be willing to drop a Bill of Impeachment in the House Hopper on the first day of the session. Articles of Impeachment: l. Waging Aggressive War (See, Nurnberg Charter, Nurnberg Tribunals, Judgment at Nurnberg, for those who can’t read but like good flicks); 2. Violating the Laws of War (See, Wormuth and Firmage, To Chain the Dog of War: the war power of Congress in history and law); 3. War Crimes…….see above. 4. Torture. See, four treaties we signed at Geneva, the protocols, dealing precisely with guerrilla war, unnatural war, or as the 18th and 19th century’s quaint language of international law called it, “imperfect law.” See, Firmage, et al, The International Order: International Law casebook, Foundation Press; and Firmage, et al, To Chain the Dog of War), decades ago. 5. Stealing at least two presidential elections. 7. Killing Democracy in the United States of America. 8. Being quite willing to hang on to power at any cost. Even making criminally false claims as to how national security is abused, put at risk, and criminally placing the United States of America in the cross hairs, the nuclear cross hairs, of those who loved us when he took office and universally, and understandably hate us now, as we continue to murder them and their children and the children of their children’s children.
