Seen this last night on Cable News, with my 13 year old daughter who was extremely bothered by it. I’d like to see how the cop’s action be defended by anyone.
I am going to tell you a little difference between this with the Gen X’s and the Baby Boomers. Gen X’ers You Tube it and Blog about it and ask for the Cop’s Badge Number.
If that happened in late 1960’s and early 70’s, there would have been some Campus Cops Ass beat. I am not advocating violence, but what that poor kid went through was horrible.

The worst thing about that video was watchin a grown man howl like a stuck pig. And to think that campus cops are racially profile is a bit silly, even for the tin foil hat brigade.

Thats right, I’m ashamed. Cops use their tasers first thing nowadays. Tasers have killed, what is it?, 200 hundred people?
All police officers that carry a taser should be tasered at least 3 times in a row. Every 1 or 2 years. Maybe that’ll keep them from over using the damned things.

This once happened to me, though I was not tasered by a cop, the words, “I am cooperating, if you touch me with that thing I promise you will be federally prosecuted for civil rights violations” Seemed to work.
Reason for the affair, refused to leave a bar after stating that bush is gay, among other things. The repub that disagreed with was allowed to stay.
Don’t know if we have any civil rights to protect anymore, but bush is still gay.

Cliff - How were you able to get interviews with the “Campus Cop”s involved in the incident? I assume you have because of all the Ass-umptions you have made. A “Campus Cop” must, at least in Utah, go through POST and be certified by the state in the same way any other law enforcement officer must. They must have been evil peace hating conservatives. There is NO other possible explanation. The whole premise of your comment is stupid. Along with the “filed under Republicans and National Politics”. This has nothing to do with Republicans or National Politics.

Ruble - Several departments require LOEs to be tasered before they are allowed to carry them. But I agree, it was better when they used guns first. ;)
Caveat - I agree, the Bush Administration should be nuked once for every time they have used “nukular bombs”. What a stupid statement.
Andy - Who asked you to leave? Was it the owner or manager of the establishment? If it was, at that point you were trespassing and violating the law. Also you make it sound as if calling someone gay is a bad thing. You are homophobic and so, according to many posters on this blog, you must be a Conservative. As we all know all the bad in this world is caused by conservatives.
The video is disturbing. I am glad that the university has called for an independent investigation. If civil rights were violated then I hope justice is served.

Brain, Thank you for your judicious responses. As for me, I just assumed it was easier to be a campus cop than a real one. I could be wrong (at least in Utah).
As for my other “Ass-umptions”, I made them all up in an effort to be stupid.
I’m sure all the campus cops involved were democrats or at least intellectually curious, tree hugging, amateur scholars protecting the homeland.

I’m no homophobe but describing bushs’ secret to reps is terribly amusing, and mind you, I said it lovingly, I think it only fair that bush be afforded the benefit of freely living his lifestyle, the man I told was not amused and was acting in a homophobic manner. I mean the poor man bush having to hide behind the macho mystic we have all been watching these years… and yes, I was trespassing after being asked to leave by the bartender, but that was instigated by the request of the man I was speaking with, however, I would argue and did, that I was being discriminated against, and the request to leave arbitrary, and without cause.
Great country we are living in, huh?
The officer entered the bar as I waited at the door, with taser in hand, the exercise was to create a record of the event. Meanwhile, my statements to the cop along with my presentation of a passport and concealed carry permit, gained me instant respect.
