“Don’t invest in the truth, these’s no money in it.” GHW bush.
It would have one wonder why anyone signs up for service. Ultimately, if you are Christian you may end up killing someone, which for whatever reason, is a mortal sin.
I don’t know how this justifies getting a few extra bucks to get ahead in this temporal life.
Want extra money?, become a night janitor where the only things that may die, is germs.

I ask myself, since the war is clearly wrong, and now 6 years long, what is keeping the current crop of soldiers from simply disobeying orders and sitting the war out in jail?
Apparently they think;
1) the cause is just.
2)they need the money, and are willing to kill and die for it.
3)stupid is, as stupid does
4)they are willing to die in service of their country, no matter the moral consequence, refer to #3 for details.
5)better to be a sanctioned killer, or accessory to said, than a felon.
For Cris-sake our troops resemble the british conscripts that fought our Founding Fathers in the War for Independence.

Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed in 1863 by President Lincoln, as a day for Americans to be thankful to God for all the good things that happened even though the country was still embroiled in a self-destructive war.
“…And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.”

So according to that, it is the deserters and those who object that are actually holding account and doing Gods will?
Deductive reasoning,… poor Abe, having to ameliorate God because he and all started the war that killed the people, at least Abe had some humility before God, while this pres has removed our civil liberties, as Abe did, and seemingly has no concept of what God may want of him.
That would be the do not kill thing Jesus and his Dad talked about, huh?
Three hots and a cot, or possibly getting blown up? There has to be a reason these boys don’t quit. Please I need more suggestions WHY?, please send them.

Young man, our soldiers serve because they are not empowered to resist the base instinct to subscribe to and show loyalty for the support system most within their grasp.
Many have not the luxury of acting out of conscience.

Hey now, this judgement is the territory of God. God help those.. , I will pray and defend those, lo their decisions are clearly defunct, and not inline with god,………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. please pray tell, who is to die? Are you saying our servicemen are retards?, not capable of determining their self interest?

They serve because they sign an obligation to serve their country. It is a shame that individuals on this site are stating disobediance of the rank to rebel against an authority they swore to follow is justified.
To expand, a Soldier is not allowed to have an opinion, he/her is to support a mission when duty calls. WE CANNOT ALLOW for a soldier to disent on whether to serve because they disagree with a “policy”. Their duty is to do the mission. They swear to adhere when their country calls.
Where the failure is the Civilian Populace not performing its role in a Democracy. We elect a Commander-in-Chief of our military force. A Civilian. We elect a Congress - Civilians -who should perform an oversight of the President. Our fourth element is the Press -Civlians. WHo job (duty) is to oversight the elected officials.
And we the Civilian populace who has a duty to overseer and make sure our Elected COmmander N Chief doesn’t act as an Emporer or King, and put our troops in harms way for an “unjust cause”. If the President does and the Congress and Press do not do their duty, We - the populace -have the obligation through Protest and other means to revolt.
Now, Have we through this Democracy done our role? I can assure the Troops have done theirs.

You are as a Federal Soldier, sworn in your way to defend and uphold the Constitution. You do not “adhere” to orders. Due to your native intelligence you are foewarned of deception and will only follow those precepts consistant with our Constitution. You are the rock of the nation do not quail…
