Tribalism, Truth, Conspiracy, & Common Sense

The Real Men at A Soldiers Perspective (ASP) did some Christmas day sleuthing around OneUtah and me. And not unlike the many imprisoned in Guantanamo, Iraq, and secret CIA prisons around the world, a number of Utahns have been swept up in the dragnet, falsely accused, convicted, and banned.

But in great contrast to to the Bush Cabal, Family CJ Grisham have disclosed the allegations made against us.

I will address the best ones as time permits:

Cliff has used no less than five aliases and variations of those aliases while commenting here at ASP. Some he has used with different email addresses, and many of those email addresses were insulting in one way or another. All of the comments (a total of 168 made it into publication) came from the same IP address which tracks back to the Salt Lake City area of Utah; the same area Cliff calls home. Those aliases are:

* One Nephi/Nephi
* MilMom (variety of email addresses)
* Cliff (variety of email addresses)
* Deanna/Teresa’s Conscience (same email address)
* Teresa’s Conscience (different email from other name)
* Crazed (variety of email addresses)

While the evidence collected may well be solid, the conclusion is wrong. First, lets apply a top secret intelligence technique known only to the best educated (and widely loathed) academicians of the world and eschewed by the US Government Intelligence Services. This secret technique is known by the code word Occam’s Razor.

Beginning at birth we view the world through the lens of ‘Occam’s Razor’, but then this vision begins to cloud as we lose our innocence and fear enters our world paradigm.

You see, there is a simple explanations for the fact that all of our IP addresses are coming from Salt Lake City; OneUtah is well, a Utah blog (Salt Lake City is the state capitol).

That we are all coming from the same IP address is probably wrong however. I know who Nephi is, and I am not he. I do not know who the women are. Unlike the tribalesque freak show at ASP, we progressives are just the rest of us. We share a common love of truth, justice, and knowledge. We need not cloister ourselves in a protective sheath banning any dissenters and in the process a large chunk of Salt Lake City (free wireless Internet downtown spans over 100 blocks including the library, about 30 coffee shops and thousands of residences).

But most curious, and exciting is the conspiratorial elements of Mr. Grisham’s conclusions about me.

Cliff is connected to a lot of organizations in Utah. He currently sits on the board of a human rights education group, and has served on several more boards in the past. You can easily follow the trail Those connections leave one big mystery to me in all of this.

Uh oh, for the first time in my life, I am a mystery? Mr. Grisham apparently did not dig very deeply. My political activities are about as transparent and public as can be. In fact, I value transparency so deeply in the public square that I require all contributing authors at OneUtah to use their real names and photos.

The next two part question made me pee my pants — a good warm pee though and a small price to pay for the pleasure of exposing the frightened boys behind the tough as nails persona.

Why set up such a big hoax just to attack MilBlogs and other conservative sites? He could easily lose a lot with one slip of the keyboard.

I beg you CJ, whatever do you mena by ‘hoax’? (I hardly expect an answer)

And what do you suppose Mr. Grisham means by, “He could lose a lot with one slip of the keyboard”? Sweet CJ, are you afraid for ME? What slip? Is there a price to pay for calling Bush the lying, treasonous, worse, disaster-of-a-president he is?

CJ Grisham, I would suggest Sir, there is a greater price to pay for following blindly along like an obedient little puppy afraid to speak truth to power. You see, CJ the cost to one’s conscience, purpose, and responsibility to right the wrongs to fight injustice and to risk reputation for one’s beliefs is a far greater cost than the cost of remaining silent.

I would also remind you that my protestations are but one small voice in a chorus heard around the world. Pay close attention. I am hardly alone.

  1. Waves of Fear » MilBlog Censors Critics and, In the Process, Becomes Just Another Cowardly Right-Wing Blog! Says:

[...] Critical analyses raised by Cliff, MilMom, Nephi and other Salt Lake City area bloggers were, apparently, just too much for the moderators and regulars over at ASP. Rather than address the analyses, ASP banned the SLC bloggers – the discussion became just too intense (or uncomfortable) for these valiant defenders of freedom and democracy. [...]

Cliff, would it be helpful at all if I claim to be ‘all of the above’, you know, shrink the scape-goat?

  3. That One Guy Says:

One hardly needs to be attentive to hear the rising chorus around us. “Those who have ears to hear, let them hear…”

  4. Richard Warnick Says:

Cliff, good on you for calling Grisham on his veiled threat. When I found out Karl Rove had a computer database of Bush enemies, I immediately e-mailed the White House and asked to be on the list! We vertebrates like to stand up and be counted.

  5. Cliff Says:

    Thanks for the offer Caveat,

The goat has pooped. Ssynchronize on Big Moma’s second baby and meet me in the third wrinkle of the flea’s belly.

    Roger out.

  6. Lynette Says:

    No Cav WAIT!

I’ll be MilMom you can be Teresa’s conscience.

    Lock’n load.

  7. ginny Says:

Dammit, all the good callsigns are gone. Er, “I’m here to see the tailor about a fitting.”

  8. cavaet Says:

Ginny, You be caveat, I’ll be ‘47′ or even ‘Anansi’.

    Yes, lock and load!

  9. rd Says:

Interesting story. It really is too bad that conservative blogs tend to stifle dissenting opinion. Why is that, I wonder? One would think that if their opinions are so rock-solid, they would welcome the opportunity to educate the liberals.

  10. MilMom Says:

That’s it. I say cut the funding and take the guns and toys away from this militaristic freakshow. If they want to stay in Iraq and build schools and hospitals, then fine, but no more shootin’ it up parties for these wacko defenders of so-called freedom.

  11. Glenn Says:

Well what are the chances of that Milmom? The people who used to do that sort of thing, Canadians, are now engaged in open warfare in Afghanistan, and spend 90% of their budget on combat operations.

I would like to see people build some hospitals and schools in the US, or fund what we have, some 100 hospitals(medical facilities) have closed down in southern Cal). We’re falling, and whether we get up, depends on stopping a host of problems, and bush is the least of them, with any guts the dems could have his ass in a sling, and there could well be republicans that would help them.

  12. sue Says:

Glenn, what if Congress stopped wasting the taxpayers money on things like The Big Dig in Mass??? How many hospitals could have remained open if we weren’t feeding Teddy Kennedy??? Just curious?
