In response to my recent post, “A Chicken Shit Named ‘Patriot’”, I have been unsurprisingly I believe, challenged to a fight.
The challenge comes as a comment on ASP. It is important to note that while I have been banned from posting there, and all comments are moderated, posting is free and uncensored on OneUtah.
Follows is ‘Patriot’s’ 3rd party, second-hand challenge. Misspellings are his.

Ahh, Frank. Not sure why you associate with people who refer to troops as “chicken @#$%” and “traitor”.Personally, I’d like to invite Cliff to a little one on one agression release competition if he’s game. I’d really like to know what a true “chicken @#$%” looks like. Please pass along my challenge and have him name a time and place(preferrably during summer when I can take leave from fighting terrorists). I can come to him.
Why doesn’t ‘Patriot’ post his challenge here? And why does ‘Patriot’ suggest I’m calling all troops chicken shits and traitors? I believe my language is clear and unmistakable.
I believe anyone who claims to be a (American) patriot should respect the significance of such a label and defend it, less the moniker be diluted and disempowered.
As much as ‘Patriot’ portrays a great deal of machismo, it should not go unnoticed that he refuses to identify himself as I have. Am I being unreasonable to expect my challenger to identify him/herself?
I will happily respond to ‘Patriot’ publicly when he is willing (brave enough) to identify himself.
Update: ‘Patriot’ has identified himself to me via e-mail. Out of respect for his reasons for not identifying himself publicly, I invite him to respond under his screen name ‘Patriot’ for the purposes of this debate.

Since ‘Patriot’ has identified himself to my satisfaction (via e-mail. See this top post’s update), I would like to address his challenge.
It is my sole purpose to pursue to the best of my ability my conviction that this war is wrong and Bush has betrayed the trust of the American people and all Americans have a duty to speak out in unison in the greater defense of our moral authority as a powerful, however still struggling, democracy.
To that end, I am willing to meet with ‘patriot’ personally and publicly and sacrifice my physical well-being (allow him to beat the pulp out of me) in and effort to “teach him a lesson”; the threat and/or excercise of physical power and violence is not, never has been, and never will, benefit the cause of the American way. It should only be employed as a means of self-defense.
Just as ‘Patriot’ can beat the pulp out of me (as we can beat the pulp out of Saddam) and call it ‘preemption’ (or just because ‘I deserve it’), such a strategy only weakens our stature and influence in the community in which we seek to establish a lasting peace, justice, and liberty.
Violence only begets violence.
PS: I do however lack the intellectual discipline to deny myself the pleasure of imagining myself beating the living shit out of PJ before a crow of cheering onlookers — a weakness I admit.

I believe Barbara Boxer was expressing a widely held sentiment, that this administration is not sufficiently concerned with the loss of life in Iraq.
Admittedly, that statement might have crossed a line. I expect more will cross that line. I know I have.
Boxer is pissed but so are a bunch of republicans (note the last election) and pretty much everyone else I know…except you? Do you still think the president has been honest with us?

I am starting to think that Patriot and Cliff are really gay lovers, just having fun with us. They sound gay together. The whole affair may be their set up to make life more interesting on each others blog. It is more interesting. Nobody wants to talk about how this war has been botched forever do we? No matter what it should have been over long ago, this is a country of 25 million, subdue it already, well tried that and it isn’t working.
I recommend reading Clash of Civilisations, by Samuel Huntington, to understand that the botching of this war is purposeful, and it isn’t over yet. Huntingtons’ premise is that whatever it takes to get the Muslims embroiled in a total conflict where we have moral justifcation for destroying them, is what we are going to do. He sees the Muslims as culturally unassailable, and therefore in need of being destroyed for us to dominate.
The war is going to get bigger if Huntington is right. He also has bushs’ ear and has much to do with all the faulty intelligence we had in the run up to the war.

I don’t know you from Adam, as is the case with CJ, Cpl.M, Sue, Terri, etc. But in reading the above excerpt from some e-mail, as well as your other postings, I am inclined to believe that you are, in actuality, one of us - a member of society that is truly pissed at BushCo, the lies and the needless death and destruction. You don’t want to engage online because you are conflicted, personally. You want to be loyal to your gang (identified above), but you also want to be loyal to yourself.
Free your conscience, dude. For the record there are a number of countries preferable to ours.
You will notice there aren’t a lot of people trying to come here from most of the other 38 industrialized Countries, some of which are more ’socialist’ than ours.
You see, they have a higher standard of living, lower infant mortality, lower poverty, better education, less crime, less murder, better health care, better health, less divorce, happier people, and yeah, higher taxes.

PJ I have lived in Canada, they get 4-6 weeks off, everybody is covered for health care and they outlive Americans by 20 months on average. There is a terrible problem with theft and property crime, but not very many people get killed. They are not warlike as some Americans are.
There is pluses and minuses of all countries, my parents are immigrants from Europe, as am I. The thing America has is space and the ability for anyone to own property. My Dad and I discuss his decision to come to America, it was part adventure and this opportunity, to own land, be uncrowded. Make no mistake, when asked about the mechanics of the country he simply replies “you don’t come to America for social justice or the culture”.
That’s reality PJ if you come from advanced civilized countries, we don’t get too many immigrants from places like that.

He served 9 months in federal prison on a 1 year sentence for his “crime.” Is Mr. Mejia at criminal? No, sir he is a PATRIOT.

It’s a new year, and for everyone, clemency is the mark of greatness. I would even grant clemency to bush, he need only say he is sorry (sorry isn’t the word) and rectify. We certainly cannot fix what he has done with his group, anymore than we can blot out the sun.
Vengeance is the road to ruin. However clemency granted by the powerful is only granted once, maybe twice, if it is offered and it is accepted, if you continue to defy the victor, one is ususally summarily put to death when the infractions occur.

We gotta keep wacking away. We let the hornets lie through the eighties and nineties and it bit us in the ass.
Simple things like not letting them get away with not reading the constitution of the United States must become priorities. We must hold their hands to the fire.
These people as a rule don’t know the constitution. How can we ignore that? How can we let them represent us in foreign lands and far away places when they don’t see the similarities between Bush and Saddam?
We’ve got to keep them on the defensive from now on so people can see them and the danger they represent.
Did you hear what Bush said on his radio broadcast today? “People shouldn’t oppose everything and not offer a solution.” What a fuckin piece of shit. What the hell did he think the Iraq Study Group was doing not to mention the democrats plan.
Bush will have to leave the country soon after he nukes Iran, but he won’t be safe anywhere, not even Paraguay.

We need to give props where necessary and for myself, back off generalizations about Repubs. For example; (R.) Sen Hagel’s comments to Rice the other day about administration lies, have prompted me to back off my wholehearted Repub detraction somewhat. Thankyou Sen. Hagel.

Caveat,
I am more or less inclined to agree, but even the most ardent Repugs can sense when the ship is about to sink beneath the surface of the sea. Hagel is just the first to holler out for a life raft; notwithstanding, however, being one of the bunch that steered the ship into the iceburg to begin with. While Hagel’s comments are welcome, he’s just a sorry Repug out to save his sorry ass.
