Cliff LyonASP Wins 2007 MilBlog Award. Here’s How?
Over at A Soldiers Perspective The good Corporal M a/k/a “Lil’ Hitler,” posted the story about the “hateful” anti-war protesters in Washington DC this weekend “spray painting the capitol.”
Keeping in mind Cpl M is their little pit bull, a twenty-year-old Marine Corporal (state-side) trying to impress “the guys”, here’s how Cpl M characterizes the event:
This is unacceptable. The defacement of the Capitol only goes to spit in the face of the American people. Actions such as these are inexcusable, and only goes to show the depths of the anti-war movement’s hate.
While ascribing the episode to the entire anti-war movement, Cpl M fails to acknowledge some other info from The Hill article:
While there were minor instances of spray painting of pavement by a splinter group of Anarchists who were seeking a confrontation with the police, their attempts to breach into secure areas and rush the doors of the Capitol were thwarted,” Morse said. “The graffiti was easily removed by the dedicated [Architect of the Capitol] staff, some of whom responded on their day off to quickly clean the area.
What Cpl M doesn’t know (he is very young and from a very small town) is that in nearly every major protest, government operatives alway pull stuff like this to provide fodder for dupes like Cpl M.

I listened to all the speeches given at the protest. Without exception, they all afirmed strong support for the troops.
This is the kind of bullshit from an idiot that will eventually turn people against the troops. I wonder if Corporal M really represents anyone other than himself.

It makes we wonder why I voted for them….really, why? Does this award mean anything? The only award they really deserve is “Stupid Blind Sheep Award.” Actually, we should try to think up the name of the award they truly deserve. “MilBlog Anti-thinking Award”, or “2007 MilBlog Stupid is as Stupid Does Award.”
I keep hoping that those who comment on ASP will soon break through the norm and we’ll read innovative thinking and comparative reasoning, but it never seems to happen. It’s more than bad breeding, it’s in-breeding.
Tell me how Cpl. M determined that spray painting demonstrated the depth of someone’s hate? Spray painting = deep seated hate? Gosh darn it, whenever I see something spray painted now I will know right away that I’m seeing the result of someone who is really, really mad. What other choices are there?

Cliff, I guess I’m not paranoid enough. I’ve read on DailyKos that anarchists and various fringe political groups come to every big anti-war protest to try and grab the limelight, but since the sixties I haven’t seen any accusation that these people are really government agents. Not saying you’re wrong, but I’d like to see more evidence.

CJ consider that your blog won, because we made the difference, I voted from all sorts of spots, multiple times, hoping you would win.
Why? Because it is an active, living with you everyday now, example of those you may perceive as enemies, really are not, only concerned for you, and your end.

Please don’t take this as an attack as you always do, I’m just genuinely curious. I’d be very interested to hear more about these government protest embeds. Any information you could provide me would be helpful.

You may say well that isn’t the same, that is my personal property. Well your wrong in my opinion. This country is your own personal property. Each and everyone of us American’s own a “share” in this country making it and every piece of public property in it our own. I think someone who defaces their own property does have some sort of hatred toward themselves and the people around them.

The use of undercover officers to disrupt protests is common and as widespread today as ever. I am quite surprised this should surprise anyone.
Thanks to video, today there is lots of video evidence on the web. Its easy to find.

I did find something interesting on a discussion board on DemocraticUnderground.com. One commenter writes:
“I was over near the Reflecting Pool when these kids were getting ready to head for the Capitol. They were completely surrounded by police, on foot, horses and motorcycles. I couldn’t see them well there were so many cops around them.
They were just being loud and obnoxious. My sister overheard a cop telling another, ‘in 30 seconds, it happens’ and by golly gee, in about 30 seconds the cops parted and the kids marched to the Capitol with most of the motor cops going to the left of the Pool and the protesters and rest of the cops going right. OK, still searching the Internets. MSNBC has a photo of one of the so-called “anarchists” who some people believe to be GOP operatives.
“Alice, an anarchist from North Carolina, tries to shake hands with Capitol Police officers as they guard the Capitol during a protest against the war in Iraq Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 in Washington. Alice did not give her last name.”
Consistent with descriptions elsewhere, “Alice” is wearing a bandanna that obscures her face.

I did Google it…not much to be found Cliff. All I am asking you is to back up your claim that the anti-war rally was infiltrated by your so called government plants. If you had no intention of proving your claims then why did you make them? You continually preach that one day we, meaning right wingers/conservatives, will see the light and come to the left. Maybe that is true Cliff, but you and your left buddies continue to make these claims and offer no truth/proof behind them. I can’t follow you into a web of wild accusations unless you back them up in some fashion.

I have been looking around for this 100,000 acre estate you speak of. All I find are very inconsistent stories of its size and owner. Stories range from 75k-175k acres. The owner of the property seems to change every story as well. Some claim the former Pres Bush bought it and some claim the current Pres Bush bought it. Whatever the truth may be, the Bush’s have to be planing to move their gold and submarines there for sure.

Thank you for the link cassandra. I have already read that and if you reference my previous post I do not debate the existence of this estate or of its purchase. I have read multiple “credited” news stories and each seems to tell a variation of the story, that is all I’m saying.
Maybe I’ll ask Bush if I can store my gold and u-boat along with his.

CLIFF! Still you have not answered my original question. Where is the proof your claim of Government sponsored protesters? Richard has done a much better job at this question then you have. I think Richard would agree though that the videos show protesters. Unfortunately they don’t have any signs or labels that state they are working for the government. Cliff, I’m not trying to be a dick head, I’m simply asking you to cite your source on this one issue.

Do you read WW2 history? The gold the nazis were reputed to have stolen, is nowhere to be found.
My German ancestors thought hitler was silly until he gained control, killed dissidents, and went on from there. There’s nothing new under the sun, except history you don’t know.

Thanks Cassandra, but I can’t keep being taken off topic. Your history lesson is fascinating but it seems to be a bit out off topic in regards to Cliff’s post. The topic I am concerned with is Cliff’s claim of government sponsored protesters.
I can’t continue to be sidetracked by your obviously one sided history lesson. Thanks for your concern about my knowledge of history. I’m currently enrolled in U.S. History II, unfortunately we have only talked about reconstruction as of yet. I’ll let you know when we get to WW2, maybe you can teach the class for us!

Google is a search engine containing links to sources of information. To the extent that none of the hundreds of public sources constitute sufficient evidence for you, I would suggest you will never be convinced of pretty much anything.
But then by that standard, you cannot “prove” al-quaida attacked us on 9-11.

You continue to act like a true liberal Cliff, when faced with a hard question you tuck your tail and run. All I ask you is to provide cite your source, but you have failed to do that. I see plenty of videos on Google about protesters. None of these videos show any type of government influenced protesting. I challenged you to show me that, so far you have failed. I have met your challenges, I looked at Google like you asked. Maybe you can point me to a specific video that you keep claiming shows this act. I am willing to accept that government is embedding protesters, IF you can show this to me.

If you can watch the videos on Google about this topic and definitively conclude that the government is secretly planting protesters in anti-war protests then you are a bigger moron than I previously thought.

Wow thanks for that Cliff, that wasn’t so hard. I see nothing in these articles about the Undercover agents actually carrying out crimes. The first 10 or so articles just talks about how they accept responsibility for crimes in order to confuse/throw off the parties actually conducting the crimes. Nowhere did I note anything about undercover officers spray painting the steps of the steps of the capitol. The only thing mentioned in these articles are uses of psychological warfare to break up the groups.

It is required reading to indulge in the accounts of the event (Tea Party) in the London papers, and then read about the Lexington/Concord affair, where Patriots were defined as “cowards”, “traitors”, “criminals” and so on, until finally the general term, “insurgents” was used by the London press.
