I mean, compared to what we were doing every day? Teasing a couple of hajjis? Give me a fucking break. You know, what’s the big deal about making a haji walk around like a dog and bark?

What was the most fun things?

The most fun thing, umm….definitely the women.

Yeah? They had chick insurgents, man?

No, they didn’t have chick insurgents.

Something goes down, they just grab everyone around, you know, fuck em. I mean, you gonna have 35 trials? No, you know. People are like, “Oh they’re innocent.” You know what, I don’t give a fuck. As far as I’m concerned, they’re all guilty. You know what? They should have kicked Saddam out themselves. Instead, we’re there doing the fucking job. We’re losing guys…..

    Cliff,

This post sums up the whole point of your silly website well. “The war is evil so every possibly true but very sick and inflammatory thing I can post is justified…and it might just annoy the milblogs I’ve been trolling too!” Your a smart guy…you’ve got to be able to see that stuff like this is kinda pathetic.

Here’s hoping Utahns sick of the Republican mess we have in this state look elsewhere for an example of how Democrats can be an alternative.

There has been a rumor about this for years

Is this the one that Sy Hersh said would shock us all?

    Is this the only case?

How many women (and men) did these people, who we let represent us to the Iraqi people, do this too?

The rumors were also that there is a video of this taking place that was traded among the perps involved, and that the Defense Dept. has that video.

    I’m just saying…that’s the rumor.

These men have lost their honor and their souls. There is a special place in HELL for people who would do this. These men got sexual release from another person’s pain and terror. They are less than human. And we let them get away with it? What does that say about us? If the Defense Dept. has videos and did nothing about this because they feared the bad P.R., then they are accessories after the fact, and are guilty as well.

Once again, innocent until proven guilty.
But I have heard that there are videos of these things happening.

As for the young woman…do you think her family’s hearts and minds are winable at this point?

    And most important
How many times did it happen after the scandal broke? After the Defense Dept. knew it was happening? If these “men” enjoyed doing this to an woman (or a man, or a boy) in Iraq, do you want them on the streets with your wives, girlfriends, daughters, or yourself?

    Are we feeling safe now?

  3. CoastalCarla Says:

Three of my son’s friends enlisted and went to Iraq. When they came home, the transformation was unbelievable. They all went because they wanted to “serve their country” and “fight the war on terror”. One came back practically shell shocked - he wont’ talk to anyone. And this was a kid that was the outspoken joker of the group. The other two came back completely damaged emotionally. They’re nasty, violent goons that have no respect for ANY human life, be it Iraqi or American. To hear the stories that they tell of what they saw over there would completely turn your stomach. Whether this video is genuinely a soldier that served over there or not, we’re all going to be in a world of hurt when these kids come home. They’re over there committing atrocities with no restraint whatsoever, with the blessing of their superiors. And we’re the ones that are going to have to deal with these sociopaths once they get home and try to reassimillate back into society. All these people shouting “support our troops!” better stop our government from completely eliminating the veteran’s benefits that they’ve been cutting back so much lately - we’re going to need them just to make these kids halfway normal once they get home.

I appreciate your honesty. I suppose we are both guilty of righteousness at times. me for the rape of innocent Iraqi girls, and you for speaking out against “the speaker [who scolded] the young man for having facial hair and asked him to committ to shaving it off as soon as possible.”

I also applaud you for finally “out[ing]” yourself “as a ‘liberal’ Mormon…at work.” What the heck took so long?

I understand well the conundrum in which you find yourself as a “liberal” active Mormon. I however am a progressive atheist not-from-here American, and as such have the luxury of being free to scream out at the top of my lungs in doing my best to help bring an end to this war as soon as possible. If this post is offensive, I am sorry. Sometimes reality is offensive.

I’m sorry you find OneUtah ’silly’. I just realized, I’ve never linked to you in our blogroll. I hope that is not the cause of your angst. I will do it now.

I do support your strategy of making the idea of liberal Mormon democrats palatable by example, and as you know I have contributed to that strategy in many ways including sitting through priesthood at the last CG. I am particularly proud of this.

And I support the party is other ways like putting up utahhousedemocrats.com, raising the money for ActBlue Utah, running a few campaigns, and being a Presidents Club party member among other things. We all do what we can. But OneUtah is an outlet for me. I do try to be careful about not contaminating our Utah democratic politicos with my personal poison. Whatever harm I may cause them, I try to make up for with financial contributions.

But I find myself right now, overwhelmed by whats happening to our country and the world and in particular, Bush apparent disregard for majority opinion and total disregard for Congressional oversight. I really believe, as do many very high level insiders, that Bush is going to attack Iran.

So to the extent my behavior might turn off potential Mormon democrats, I’m sorry. I would hate to have to look back and say I was too nice because I didn’t want to piss off a few Mormons who were thinking about changing parties. My conscience is also MY guide.

I also well understand how pathetic my MilBlog thing is, but I feel like someone needs to show the world how pathetic are these warmongers parading themselves as patriots.

Lastly, this post was not made with the MilBloggers in mind, but to spread the information to put pressure on the media to report it, and the CID to investigate the many, many reports of this kind of activity. Lets be honest, this video is not a fake and we wouldn’t be in this mess if the media were doing its job. In many ways, the blogosphere is an important force against media self-censorship and I believe we have a moral responsibility to use our blogs also for this purpose.

I hope you will use yours similarly.

Specialist Alyssa Peterson died in Iraq in September, 2003.
The military listed her death as the result of a “non-hostile weapons discharge.” But newly uncovered military documents reveal Peterson actually shot herself with her service rifle. The documents also show her suicide came just two weeks after she refused to take part in further interrogations of Iraqi prisoners and had asked to be reassigned. We speak with the reporter who broke the story.

Did the torture of Iraqi prisoners lead an American soldier to take her own life? The question is being raised on the heels of new-disclosed military documents kept under wraps for the past three years.

Specialist Alyssa Peterson was twenty-seven years old when she died on September 15th, 2003. She was the third female soldier to lose her life in the Iraq war. Peterson was assigned as an interrogator to a US air base in Tal Afar. The military listed her death as the result of a: “non-hostile weapons discharge.”

  6. Richard Warnick Says:

I don’t know if this is any consolation, but the US Army takes this alleged incident seriously and is investigating, according to IraqSlogger.

“Previous soldier/atrocity items have caused great media stir, only later to be proven hoaxes. As [chief of public affairs Christopher ] Grey noted, ‘We have seen situations where people post videos and pictures on the Internet pretending or leading people to believe they are U.S. soldiers, when in fact they were not even in the military or they never served in OIF or OEF.’”

  7. Cliff Lyon Says:

    What’s your gut say Richard?

If this guy is acting, he deserves an Oscar for character performance.

I’d say the CID is correct to take this one very seriously.

  8. Richard Warnick Says:

I often don’t click on videos, and I’ve been actively avoiding this one. True story or not, I don’t want to hear it. Reading it is bad enough.

Let me quote one more time from Fiasco. When the Abu Ghraib story broke, some Marines were watching the news and General Mattis came up and asked what was up. One of them answered, “some assholes just lost the war for us, sir.” It was that obvious from day one.

  9. Cliff Lyon Says:

Oh no dude. You HAVE TO watch this one. Its not descriptive that way. It just some kids kickin back drinking beers shootin the shit.

  10. Caveat Says:

I remember before the exposure of the torture at Abu Graib, there were reports of mortar attacks on the prison. It was suggested in the articles that, due to conditions therein, word had gotten out to the other locals that attacks should be attempted because the prisoners would rather be killed by thier family members mortar shells than suffer what was going on inside. Please kill us, they said.
