I’m Liking the Sound of This
Al Gore Will Not Only Run, but He Can and Will Win
Money Quote:
I even have the perfect campaign slogan for Gore: “Imagine how it would’ve been.”
Just imagine what the country would be like today had he become president in 2000 and not Bush. Imagine an America without this bloody debacle in Iraq. Imagine an America that commands the respect of its allies and is feared by its enemies. Imagine an America that puts the environment before big corporate interests. Imagine having a president who strives to bridge the gap between rich and poor, where the middle class, not the wealthy, gets the tax breaks, and where the minimum wage is not a shameful $5.15. Pretty powerful stuff on the campaign trail, huh?

In my book, “How it would have been”, the threats pointing to the Sep 11 attacks would have been attended to and thwarted. Enron would have been exposed for the wrecking ball that it actually was. No wars in Afganistan or Iraq. The national debt wouldn’t have grown so precipitously and Social Security would have been adjusted to enliven it for the forseeable future. Attempts to address global warming…and on and on.
Now, if Gore were reelected, so much is so different that it’s hard for me to speculate on what changes even brilliant leadership can effect.

Have you ever seen the Saturday Night Live where Gore became president? Pretty hilarious…I couldn’t find in on YouTube for you to link to, but you would enjoy it!

Some of Saturday Nite Live’s stuff was really brilliant. I can only imagine that take. My dial-up makes U-tube realllllly slow, nocandoUTube.
Tim, glad you rematerialized (as it were). Sometimes I wonder; if Cheney were more forthcoming in everything from SUV support to war planning, the public might just eat it up. For him, his secrecy can only engender blowback. Having said that, I still think discovery and possibly prosecution appropriate.

That’s why Algore will not win, because we can all imagine how it might have been, and it wouldn’t have been pretty.

Ken, are you suggesting the developements we have experienced are what you imagine to be preferable / pretty? How so?
