Oppression in a Republican State
Oh yeah, and the one where George Bush was Governor and home of the former currently under inditment, Speaker of The House, Tom Delay.
It seems everywhere there are republicans there is A LOT of scum.

Let me try to explain this way. There are two types of motorcycle street riders: those whom have crashed, and those whom have yet to crash. If you ride street bikes, Jeff, then you know what I mean.
In similar fashion, there are two types of Repugs: those whom have lied, and those whom have yet to lie. It’s just a matter of time.

The principle of public education is a foundational one. It’s a liberal issue in the true spirit of liberalism.
I ask you; if the public schools aren’t up to snuff, why should the rich be allowed to opt out of the system and take their lucky white children?
Liberalism would say, it is our responsibility to FIX the schools. How does “bailing out” of bad public education make it better?
How will we be a great nation if the poor aren’t given equal opportunity?

I was first attracted to conservatism because it was a philosophy opposed to government redistribution of wealth. Now we have a “conservative” administration that does exactly that, only it takes from the poor and gives to the rich. School vouchers are an example. Why not have a government program of subsidies for owners of private swimming pools, because they don’t use the public pools? That was a joke, let’s not get any ideas.

On the subject of family & moral values & compassion, Newt Gingrich is my man. He is justly famed for his wholeheartedsupport of marriage and his compassionate plan to put 1 million children in orphanages.

Republicans are the party that’s simultaneously anti-terror and “Osama who?” They’re pro-military and anti-body armor and training. They’re fiscally responsible and simply lost track of 8.8 billion dollars in cash loaded on pallets. They’re strong and masculine and male cheerleaders. They know a cake-walk when they see one and will suffer the deaths of a million or upwards. Bless em, they’re gonna need it.

Your statement about taking from the poor and giving to the rich is inflammatory and untrue. If you read the articles behind the links I supplied above, you will see why I feel that way.

The assumption is often made that people who support vouchers must think the public schools suck. In most cases, this is untrue. It really appears to me that those opposed to vouchers are those with the least faith in the public school system. My children go to a fabulous public school, and the likelihood that we’ll use vouchers is very low. THE WHOLE point is that parents should be able to choose what kind of education the people receive.
Since parents aren’t required to pay directly for their own children’s education, society pays through taxes for everyone’s children to be educated. Why we think that must be a monopolistic public system, I’m not sure.
