Why Are Liberals Hateful?
…because its a major theme of the right-wing shock jocks.
The question I really want to ask, is why Ken Bingham (and so many others) equate liberals and our positions with hate? The answer is very clearly because they are repeating things they hear from people like Coulter, O’Reilly, Hannity etc.
But I have yet to hear one example of where or how an anti-war or impeachment advocate is vile and hateful. This is just more proof of my thesis that the authoritarians are uninterested in facts.
Here are two recent entertaining examples of how factually wrong Hannity and O’Reilly are.
On O’Reilly’s radio show, he actually cut of the mic of his co-host because she was correcting him on his facts about the ‘Decider’s generous offer. Listen. Go here for more evidence of the facts.
Then we have Hannity who mistakenly leads the wrong witness in a classic attempt to misinform the typical Fox ‘News’ watcher. Hey, if its on TV, it must be true huh Ken?
Hannity Leading the Witness (wrong one - oops)
This might be a little complicated for the average Fox News watcher. So if you’re having trouble understanding how Hannity misleads you, ask your wife for help.

Conservative and liberal talk shows illustrate the point that liberals are much angrier and hateful than conservatives. Listen to shows like Rush Limbaugh, Shaun Hannity, and Glen Beck and you will find light hearted and good natured discourse. Conservatives can make fun of ourselves just as much as we make fun of liberals. This is the reason why conservative talk shows are so successful, because they are entertaining as much as they are informative. People can listen to Rush and others and not end up feeling angry about the world. On the other hand you listen to liberal talk shows like Al Franken and there is nothing entertaining about it. People like that are shrill, unfunny, and un-entertaining. They are angry people who spread there vitriol to the rest of the country.
Look at the difference between a liberal protest and a conservative protest. Liberals are screaming, seething with anger and outrage. On the other hand conservative protests are family events. There are children laughing and playing, the adults are engaging in thoughtful discourse. It is a party atmosphere as opposed to the liberal protests across town where they are always on the verge of a riot. It all comes down to the fact that conservatives are more content with their lives because we live more stable lifestyles. We are more concerned about raising our families than raising cain. Studies* have shown that conservative men and women live happier and healthier lives. We don’t have to change the world because the world we live in is good. The road to happiness is not liberalism, come join us and find true love and contentment.

Because O’LIEly says so, and to listen to him and brother ken, that just makes it so, Kain’t argue w/that!

Ken,
You find me one liberal talk show that comes close to as angry as Hannity (its Sean btw) or O’Reilly.
You can tell yourself what you said above all day long, but that won’t make it true.
Show me a someone as nasty as Ann Coulter.
Show me a video where a liberal say outright lies. I’ll top post it. But you can’t. And don’t give me any excuses. You know damned well, if there were any, they would be posted all over the place.
If you could, you know I would show you 20 video’s of lying freepers.
Good luck. I won’t be holding my breath

I watched the whole Hannity segment, and I have a headache. Then I listened to O’Reilly and I’ll be laid up for weeks! And to top it off, O’Reilly chastises lis Wiehl “you misled my audience, who comes here for the truth”. Uh-huh!
“And in related news, the pot called the kettle black today…”
Conservatives need to do a much better job of calling BS when Limbaugh, Hannity, et al. say something that is rude, untrue, or playing fast with the facts, because they do it on a regular basis. It’s not okay to mix fact with fiction and trust/realize that most people will think it’s all true. I haven’t listened to Al Franken et al very often, but I suspect they have the same problem. It’s not a cutthroat game of “I win, you lose” because we’re all Americans, and we ought to have the common decency to treat each other that way.
And by the way, it’s not mature when Hannity or O’Reilly bring someone on their show and don’t let them tell their side of the story (i.e. Rocky Anderson, as I have mentioned before).
Ken,
I have to say, that funny is in the eye of the beholder. It’s not funny when it’s at the expense of a perceived ‘enemy’, especially when it’s not true or not of any consequence. I do believe with you, though that the studies are correct, that (as long as we’re not breathing the fire of righteous indignation up everyone’s skirts) that conservatives do live happier and healthier lives.

Often the people who like to think that the day to day operation and direction of the government is in ‘good hands’, find this rhetoric ‘entertaining’, not thinking just how inflamitory or deceitful it really is. When gwb looks everywhere for wmd and can’t find them (even under his desk, the desk with the RED button!), or when Cheney tells a senior Dem on the floor of the sanate to “Fuck off”, or when that blonde beyotch verbally poisons some moderate supreme court justice, we’re all supposed to think it’s just silly talk, entertainment. If a lefty harkens back to the good ole days of richard nixon, it verges on criminal. That lefty radio isn’t as ‘entertaining’ as the other sort is because most of the time lefties are entertaining themselves, not letting well sponsored whores do it to them like righties seem to be doing.

Ken,
Your comment reminds me of the saying “ignorance is bliss.” Indeed, for most conservatives, not knowing about the world we live in today must provide more comfort than knowing it.

No more spanking for thee. Thou doth protest too little.
You must request forgiveness at the feet of the recently murdered.
Happy Sunday.

I wouldn’t dismiss Ken’s point as undeserving honest consideration. Some antiwar protests do cater to far-left ideologues who are very angry people. It doesn’t play well on TV.
At the same time, the hate speech of the Hannitys, O’Reillys, Limbaughs and Becks, and the Malkins and the Coulters and on and on is couched in a “humorous” entertaining vein that seems to bring in the ratings. It’s a real issue.

Conservatives are full of love.
They love to humiliate “libs” and citizens from the “democrat” party on the media. Unfortunately, too many Americans think that makes for better entertainment then a truly balanced debate with a non-partisan host. I can’t think of a single show on commercial television or radio which provides that. If the fairness doctrine were reinstated, Rush Limbaugh would disappear. That’s why all conservatives in media would fight it. Fairness is something they abhor and isn’t as “entertaining.”
The corporate media doesn’t want the truth coming out about them. That’s why all the shows are rushed along to prevent any real insight or reflection on the problems that our society faces. The unfortunate among us, including homeless veterans, are barred from the conversation because it’s depressing, like watching too many environmental shows, but we ignore these problems at EVERYBODY’S peril.

How soon we forget history. I remember 8 years of conservatives foaming at the mouth during the Clinton years ( in truth I foamed a bit myself during Clinton’s reign, but for the opposite reasons than the conservatives did). I remember the blood-lust in the run up to the Iraq war. I remember the emergence of conservative hate radio/tv int he form of Limbaugh in the early 90s.
Ken says that righty events are family events, but every left event that I’ve attended in the last 4 years has been a family event. There is some anger at these events — us softy libs find it hard to be joyful when innocent people are being slaughtered by the thousands for the profit of corporations in this country. But there is a lot of light fun as well — I’m part of the radical cheerleading troop, “Pom Poms not Bomb Bombs” and we do some pretty funny and entertaining stuff - a lot funnier that Rush.
“There are children laughing and playing, the adults are engaging in thoughtful discourse. It is a party atmosphere” this would decribe most of the libby events I’ve attended. Your attempts to polarize us are weak.
Also re: studies. You can find studies that support just about anything. There was a fairly recent study that shows that whiny, insecure kids grow up to be conservatives and the confident, resilient and self-reliant kids turn out to be liberal. You can’t swallow all studies whole like that, Ken.

“This might be a little complicated for the average Fox News watcher. So if you’re having trouble understanding how Hannity misleads you, ask your wife for help.”
This is a hateful comment. You didn’t just make an assertion followed by supporting evidence. You had to interject a nasty, ad-hominem attack. This is a perfect example on why conservatives suggest that liberals are hateful and nasty.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:53 am
You have your lies confused Bob Marks. Conservatives started calling us hateful long before we became nasty.
But we (at least I am) really really angry.
What are you doing about the disintegration of America beside playing arm chair analyst?
Revolutions DO happen buddy? Can you think of any?
