Causes and Strategies
I woke up in a pretty good mood today, so it seemed like another good day to go to work on something fruitless. Like so many other times in the last 4 years, I grabbed my “Support The Troops - Impeach Bush” sign and headed out the door. But wait, sitting there on my table is visible evidence of progress from my last impeachment walk, a container of mints given to me by a complete stranger who was excited about my cause and wanted to contribute something to show her appreciation. They taste like peaches.
I had slightly better support today than ever before, but I sense a new desperation among the naysayers. An intensified anger based on shame rather then cause. The strategy of their leaders to destabilize their own country for power and treasure is becoming apparent and embarrassing to the faithful.
I always wave at supporters and swipe my arm angrily at detractors. Sort of a “live” polling survey. My adversaries have developed a new strategy. They honk and give me a thumbs up until I wave and then give me the bird. I never saw this before today.
A glacier of justice moves slowly over the Republican “revolution”. Just like the truth, or a just cause, it’s unstoppable. Not dependent on one person, or even one generation. Gravity is on the people’s side, and is unaffected by lies, euphemisms or money.
The damn ball game is winding down, and the truth is winning. A temper tantrum is imminent.

Hey, are you the guy who sometimes holds up your sign on the sidewalks near the Sandy cemetery? If so, I’ve you given you a thumbs up before (although I don’t actually favor impeachment proceedings).

That’s me. I’ve been to Sandy three times. Twice at that intersection and once in front of the bank on the south side of the Southtowne Mall where I worked for 15 years.
I don’t believe the country or the soldiers can succeed unless Bush is removed from office. Our moral authority is non-existent in this war and with all our other dealings in the world. That scares me. Of course many others need to be removed also.

The bird is a half peace-sign — I tell myself when ever I see this while protesting that they are half-way there — helps me stay positive,

I met a young guy in Sandy when I was there with my sign who had taken jobs holding a sign advertising for Jiffy Lube. He said people had given him the bird. That made me feel a lot better and we had a laugh.
That same day, I had a Vietnam Veteran stand with me for at least an hour. Some very angry marine pulled over to yell at me and after he drove off I kicked myself because I couldn’t convince him of anything and I FORGOT TO TELL HIM TO COME AND TALK TO THE VETERAN THAT WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE!
AARRRGGGHH!
