It’s Just a Couple of Minutes (a completely nonpolitical post)
It takes a couple a minutes in the morning to shower and wash your face. It’s a minute or two to brush your damn teeth and comb your hair. Take 3o seconds to look at yourself in the mirror before you leave the house. Do your laundry on a regular basis - it’s not a huge commitment of time (on Friday and Saturday nights most laundromats are almost empty - you can wash six and dry loads at once - which makes your investment of time about 90 minutes - take a damn book and read it.) If you know you’ve worn something but don’t remember the last time you washed it, wash it before you wear it again. It’s a couple minutes in the stylist’s chair every so often - trust me, it’s worth it. It’s a couple minutes a few times a year to replace your worn out clothing with something new. It’s a couple of minutes here and there and the payback is far beyond the investment. It’s just a couple of minutes to worry about how you look - and smell. If people’s eyes water when you ride in their car, it’s time for a shower. You need to wash your hair every other day or so. Trust me, a week between washings is a bad idea. If your hair is so long it takes two days to dry, reconsider your hair style. Trust me, you’ll be happier.
(I’m not talking about someone who just walked out of the gym and is en route to the shower. I’m not talking about the person who’s been doing actual physical labor all day and just got off work. I’m not talking about someone who just spent all day working in the yard or just finished running a marathon. I’m talking about those people who figure a shower every so often is good - if you’ve ever thought “I had a shower yesterday and I only sweated a little bit, I’m can skip one this morning day” I’m talking about you.)
Thank you, this has been a public service announcement.
