What is verschaerfte Vernehmung? It translates as “aggravated interrogation”, or one could say “enhanced interrogation techniques.” Verschaerfte Vernehmung is the euphemism for torture coined by the Gestapo during World War II.
Normally, I think Nazi analogies are over the top. In this case, I have to make an exception. There are serious candidates for President of the United States strongly advocating the use of torture, and employing the same term for it as the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler.

Abuse of common English is one of the hallmarks of political mischief. I don’t think any journalist should let a politician off the hook on this one. Words matter.

Kudos though for the “over the top” comment.
Isn’t it interesting that you do not know the crimes and atrocities your government and people have committed until you are defeated. Our enemies know what we are capable of, and it gives them STRENGTH!

I believe Romney is the choice of the Republican elite and will be the candidate for president based on that. He has that Reagan charm, beauty and wealth that republicans are so starved for after 7 years of being represented by an idiot who screws up everything he touches.
Because of the Olympics, Romney has been promoted as somebody who can fix things. I’m not sure why somebody from Utah couldn’t “fix” the Olympics, but what do I know.
More and bigger prisons will make everything better. Brilliant thinking Romney.
