Again today, dear reader, Thomas Friedman is wawahing over the lamentable state of endemic violence and the chaos and blood that is created:”Gaza is turning into Mogadishu. Hamas is shelling Israel, Israel is retaliating”. (Retaliating? After what Israel has done to all the Arab lands it now occupies, the question of who is attacking and who is retaliating is a vicious version of the chicken and the egg: which came first? Go deep down and your answer will simply match your ethnicity. ) To continue: “Iraq is a boiling pot. Iran is about to go nuclear. Lebanon is being pulled apart. Syria is being investigated for murdering Lebanon’s prime minister. Yes, this mess is so big and so tall. Who knows where to pick it up at all?”

Well, friend Thomas, doubt no more. Thrust your hands into your own head and go figure. YOU supported almost all the initiatory acts of violence, and then lamented when they, most predictably, spun out of control. Violence always does. Doubting Thomas, read Victor Davis Hanson’s fine piece, just below yours, in today’s (Thursday, June 7, Tribune. the day after D Day, Normandy. For the youngsters, Normandy is in France.)

I’ve sent long and short missives to you, and to the Salt Lake Tribune. Those fearless editors and Darth Vader, the owner, Singleton the Bush lover ( I think he gets Bush in the White House………another ground for Bush’s impeachment: see, the Republican effort to impeach Bill Clinton) have refused to publish any one of these many missives. If at first you don’t succeed…….I’ll try again with this. But, as in marriage counseling, you’re likely toknow the future by examining the past. So, as W.C. Fields used to say, if at first you don’t succeed, try try again. then give up. Don’t make a damned fool of yourself.”

Since I’ve made a profession of convincing everyone that I’m a damned fool, once again the missive to mssrs. Singleton, et al. In big print that younger readers don’t like: VIOLENCE IS OF IT’S NATURE VOLATILE. You can’t turn it off, nor fine-tune it, as the bastards in the White House think. And Mr. Friedman. All his brilliance and erudition and his capacity to spin (he would make a good press secretary to Bush) is wasted. Since he’s very very rich, among the elite who want Iraq’s oil, and wants to keep his job among the highest paid folks in the land. the media, as we have it, is complicit in our downward spiral, just as much as Bush the Stupid. And Friedman the brilliant fool for gold’s sake.
