I caught the interview yesterday morning. The most telling statement: “It’s definitely not by any means a universally negative picture.” So, unless the good news quotient drops to ZERO, we have to keep 150,000 soldiers (plus 30,000 mercs and who knows how many contractors) in Iraq. At a cost of $2 billion a week.
Unless the Iraqis can somehow throw the occupation force out of their country, it looks like we’ll be there until Bush no longer has to admit the war was a mistake and until the GOP finds a way to blame the Democrats.
