Glasgow: ‘Long may terrorists be clueless screw-ups’
This afternoon CNN, MSBC and Faux News Channel endlessly replayed the video of a burning Jeep Cherokee at the Glasgow airport. Seldom did they note that nobody was seriously hurt except for the one of the unsuccessful terrorists. On CNN they cut away to a live camera panning randomly around the Los Angeles airport as if anticipating that something would happen there today. I suppose fear = ratings.

The eyewitness description suggests rank amateurs with no training. They didn’t actually get close enough to do much damage, and their behavior suggests that something went very wrong– what with one of them on fire and trying to get into the trunk.
Long may terrorists be clueless screw-ups who can’t start fires in cars because they leave the windows rolled up and starve the flames of oxygen, and who scramble around to manually detonate things while on fire themselves.
Just remember what screw-ups these guys are when Alberto Gonzales comes to you with a plea to repeal the Bill of Rights in order to deal with them.

I agree that we should not repeal the Bill of Rights in order to deal with terrorists. I think the Patriot Act has in many ways given the government far too much power.
Despite how we feel about America having invaded Iraq, one thing we can say we have observed about the experience: terrorists begin as “rank amateurs with no training” but gradually work their way up to developing very adept skills at committing organized murder and other mayhem.
