The Crandall Canyon disaster hearings are doing what they’re designed to do: get to the truth behind failures of federally-regulated industries and projects. But the mining company, federal government and our own senior U.S. senator are coal-walling them. After Day One, mine owner Robert Murray and MSHA chief Richard Stickler are trapped in their own rubble by senators from both parties (including Utah junior Sen. Bob Bennett) questioning why, among other major mistakes, MSHA allowed retreat mining to continue after a major bump was felt in March and why the ground rescue effort continued when seismic activity caused by the mine collapse hadn’t stopped. Murray refuses to testify because he says he’s still involved in the rescue effort (THE ONE HE CALLED OFF) and, most recently, that he’s too sick. Which is it, Bob? Of course, the answer is neither: just more lies like he’s spewed since the day this tragedy started. And to hear our own Sen. Orrin Hatch defend these dangerous and incompetent micreants is outrageous. If he believes in them so strongly, Hatch should testify on why he thinks Murray and the MSHA are without fault. If not, he should shut up and get out of the way. There’s a lot of work to be done and Hatch isn’t helping the people of Utah or the federal government. I thought that was his job.

Since when does the person representing your state defend those who hurt it? Hatch is clearly not on Utah’s coal miners’, Emery County’s or Governor Huntsman’s side even though his junior and less influential partner is. If I was a resident of Emery County, I would email and phone Hatch’s office in anger and protest, demanding a full explanation of Hatch’s reasons for defending government incompetence and flagrant and fatal violations of the law by an diabolical mine owner.

When they were swearing George W. Bush in after the stolen election of 2004, two songs were played at the very begging of the inauguration ceremony. One of them was the famous, (or infamous “Let The Eagle Soar” which John Ashcroft sang, (very badly.) The other was Orrin Hatch’s “Heal Our Land.”
I couldn’t help but put the two song’s titles together to create a new title that I would call “Heal The Eagles Sores.”
I am TRULY sorry…
Please forgive me for my bad humor, but I am absolutely sure that those were the first two songs presented at that illegitimate farce, (otherwise known as an inauguration.)

Freedom and Liberty need to guarded jealously, and constant vigilance in this task in mandatory.
Those that would do bad things, internally, and externally need to be terrified of us if they cross us. The public just kept doing nothing when our leaders commited crimes against us and others. From the gun grabbers to the we are the world people, those that would do evil just laugh at you.
Come after them with real material strength, they run. Do you imagine the crown would have relented if some Patriots didn’t shoot them down? Sad, but if you can’t defend yourself, well then, you can’t defend yourself.

I’m sorry twice!
It wasn’t John Ashcroft who sang his “Let The Eagle Soar” song at the forsaken inauguration of 2004, but somebody else who ACTUALLY sang it worse then Ashcroft. I’m not kidding. Maybe they were rubbing it in our helpless little faces, I can’t be sure.
I saw it, (and heard it), with my own aching eyes and ears.
It is probably the only time I ever wished that C-Span hadn’t broadcast something we deserved to see, (if only for our own crippled knowledge.)

Fuzz in my memory, but I believe that Hatch is from Pennsylvania.
He moved to Utah especially to run for the senate.

You are correct. We have to ship our leaders in from other states because we’re too dumb to find someone to save our Olympics and represent us in the senate. Orrin had connections with Reagan too which I understand helped him get the seat.

I’m beginning to get the connection. They mine coal in Pennsulvania, but the unions are too strong. So Hatch inserts himself into Utah and coincidentally the mines become a safety issue. With so few union miners, at least in Crandall, an abandoned mine is re-started again (sold as scrap) and the stated safety is certified by Murray, with the encouragement of the bush admin (stickler). Where is Hatch, why surely in the senate he is working like a beaver reasuring Murray that if anything disastrous happens that he (murray) will be in charge at the pressers. And after the elections (2006) Hatch will be the majority leader and that he will introduce a law that will retroactively take care of Murray’s rep.
Today I’m watching a re-run of the senate hearing on IMSHA and sure enough I see that cherubic liar hatch, impecably dressed, not singing yet as he inserted himself in the hearing. He is all bullshit.
Oh yes Bennett is there too!
What a pair, along with stickler and the AMA (American Mine Association) they assume they are all powerful. They are not. They do dress well though.

Utah is being used on so many levels by our local politicians. It’s really maddening.
