Election day blogging (part three - where strange things happen to good poll watchers)

So after a joyous and unhealthy campaign lunch of pizza and soda, Aaron and I headed again for Capitol Hill where we began the poll watching again.

We had a targeted list of about 100 voters to either verify as having voted or to contact to remind them to vote. About 1/2 our voters had already voted so we had houses to visit.

Aaron knocked on the door, introduced himself and identified his reason for visiting. the man said, “Whydo you think I’m a supporter? You must have added me yourself. You know all politicians are crooks. Are you a crook?”

Aaron, nonplussed said, “Well someone visited your house earlier this summer . . .”

“Well who’s with you. He’s probably a crook too. What kind of car are you driving?”

We then returned to the poll where the poll workers helpfully guided us through a productive and rapid poll watch.

Turnout today is looking good - at Capitol Hill we had almost 300 people who had voted by 2:30 - with absentee and early voters adding about another 100. Turnout today is GREAT.
