Iran Insanity
A 52 percent majority of Americans want to bomb Iran and 53 percent think that President Bush is going to do it, according to a new Zogby poll. Just 29 percent of Americans think the US should not attack Iran. Never mind that Iran poses no threat to our national security unless we attack them. Everyone knows Iran has no nuclear weapons (unlike, for example, Pakistan). As far as western intelligence agencies, the IAEA and the Israelis have been able to discover, Iran doesn’t even have a nuclear weapons research program.

This is insanity. You might think that we learned something from the Bush administration’s lying about Iraq and Saddam Hussein. But the war drums are beating so loudly it’s hard to hear yourself think. On the PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer last night, rabid neocon Norman Podhoretz, who is also a foreign policy adviser to Rudy Giuliani, repeated his claim that there is “only one terrible choice†left with Iran, which is to “bomb†their “facilities†and “retard†their nuclear program. Today, President George “World War III” Bush met with some GOP congressional leaders behind closed doors and left no doubt he’s willing to attack Iran.
I can only hope that all this is mainly intended as a Bush administration distraction to keep the ongoing Iraq fiasco out of the news as much as possible. Otherwise… Otherwise read this: Day One - The War With Iran.

DuaneV on the atrios board points out that “with only 24% approval rating (precisely because of the many lies surrounding the invasion and occupation of Iraq), the fact that the media is reporting that a majority of Americans accept the word out of this warmongering administration regarding Iran, simply shows the extent to which the corporate media continue to carry water for the Bushes”.
So…it might be in the water, but it is CERTAINLY in the mindset of the corporated media heads. Why do you suppose that is?

The “Musak” or most likely the “Clear Channel” station where I work is playing the Beach Boy non-hit “Barbara Ann”. This is in VERY BAD TASTE.
Zogby has been reliable. How could this happen? Only one possibility…

Although John McCain mistakenly cited the Beach Boys when he sang it, “Bomb Iran” was actually released by Vince Vance and the Valiants, a group better known for one of the best rock and roll Christmas songs, “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
