General BetrayUs and His BFF
I truly wish this picture was a fake. But no, it’s General David Petraeus living up to his nickname by spending the day with none other than Ahmed Chalabi.

Chalabi, who for some unknown reason is not behind bars, is now being hailed as “a central figure in the latest U.S. strategy for Iraq.”
Does anyone remember Chalabi is an Iranian agent? He maintains an office in Tehran, and has been working for them a long time. What about his portfolio of lies about Saddam’s WMD and ties to terrorists? Chalabi also has been sentenced to 22 years in jail in Jordan for embezzling $300 million at a bank he created.
In May 2004, Time magazine wrote:
It may still take months for the U.S. to sort out just how much damage its flirtation with Chalabi has wrought. Bush Administration officials argue that their willingness to cut Chalabi loose shows that the U.S. is learning from the faulty assumptions that have plagued the occupation for more than a year.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

UPDATE: This Sunday, CBS “60 Minutes” will broadcast a report by Bob Simon revealing the identity of “Curve Ball,” Chalabi’s prime fabricator of fake WMD intelligence. Despite warnings from the CIA, the Bush administration used Curve Ball’s lies to justify the invasion of Iraq.
Curve Ball is an Iraqi defector named Rafid Ahmed Alwan, who arrived at a German refugee center in 1999. To bolster his asylum case and increase his importance, he told officials he was a star chemical engineer who had been in charge of a facility at Djerf al Nadaf that was making mobile biological weapons.
… “It was a guy trying to get his green card essentially, in Germany, and playing the system for what it was worth,” says [Tyler Drumheller, a former CIA senior official]. “It just shows … the law of unintended consequences,” he tells Simon.

Shhhhh!
Don’t tell our friends over at ASP and ASM about this news suggesting yet further incompetence of and intentional lies and misleading of the people by the Bush administration will be devastating for both their egos and perceived purpose in life.
