Election Day Blogging (Part Two)
It’s after 8 o’clock. We finished the three precincts - checking voters we had a list of 108 voters to check on and at the end of the day all but 20 had made it to the polls. I’m told that this is about normal for the turnouts today. The precincts R and I were watching had a total of about 1300 registered voters. Including early and absentee voters 650 people voted in these three precincts today - the turnout was, according to polls workers, the biggest they remember.
Today brought surprisingly few stories. Most voters approached this election with an attitude of seriousness, and surprise that such serious issues involved so little time - there were three simple votes. Salt Lake City Mayor, Referendum One, and Proposal One. Most voters were in and out in moments. Many of them seem surprised at the ease of the whole process.
I’ll be adding more notes about todays’ election as results come in. Early results from Salt Lake County clerk at 67% Becker 33% Buhler.
