Here’s a salute to the Democrats who are already planning to give up on Iraq withdrawal, according to the Washington Post.

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) and House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD), among other “brave” Dems, now want to approve additional funding this January for the Iraq occupation — without troop-withdrawal timelines. But what are they running away from? Polls show a solid majority of Americans want our troops out of Iraq ASAP.

UPDATE: An article by Alissa J. Rubin in The New York Times warns that the clock is running out on the so-called “surge,” the Mahdi Army cease-fire has only three months left to go, and the Sunni “former” insurgents won’t be happy when they don’t get the government jobs they have been promised. In other words, Iraq could revert to all-out civil war on short notice.
