Iraq NewsLadder
On the October 23 edition of “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough’s MSNBC show, Rush Limbaugh said this in an interview:
I actually think the election in ’08 is not going to be so much about Iraq, I think it’s going to be about the future of the country. I think, I think by the time we get there, nobody is going to be able to saddle the President with defeat in Iraq—probably quite the opposite. And so, it’ll drop off of the radar screen. The future of the country, mark my words, will be what the ’08 presidential race is about.
As Limbaugh knows, the Bush administration has a media strategy for Iraq– get it off the front pages, and don’t let it be the lead story on the TV news.
Iraq is the biggest foreign policy disaster in U.S. history. Iraq is the most violent country on Earth, and has the world’s biggest refugee crisis. This fiasco is costing us $12 billion a month. Despite the deployment of the bulk of the US land forces to Iraq, nothing worthwhile is being accomplished and the situation in Afghanistan is relegated to a distant second priority. Our Army is crumbling under the pressure of repeated deployments and 15-month combat tours. The whole burden of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is being carried by just over half a percent of Americans.
Thanks to some enterprising bloggers with support from Governor Bill Richardson’s presidential campaign, there is something we can do to keep Iraq on top of the news. It’s the Iraq NewsLadder.

The Iraq NewsLadder provides up to the minute links to the top articles from newspapers and magazines, the top blog posts and videos, from all around the world, all about Iraq. Anyone can submit a new link– it takes less than a minute to register.
The site also has comments, recommendations and a vote-based ranking system that moves stories up and down the “ladder.” In keeping with the core concept of NewsLadder, all the voting, commenting, and recommending of links is open and democratic.
