Utah’s Greatest Living Bigot. Lets Another One Rip in Public.

Utah State Senator Chris Buttars, West Jordan, Utah Over at KSL, there are many defending Buttars’ bigotry using finely honed apologetics.

I’m all for giving one the benefit of the doubt once, maybe twice. But I know Senator Buttars. He IS an unapologetic bigot and will readily admit it to anyone (privatly) as he did with me one day over the phone. He is not embarrassed by it, and is visibly resentful that his caucus forced him to tone it down in public.

Here’s what he said this week.

Here some more audio of Bigot Buttars. .mp3 (Includes 1-minute preview of Buttars’ & friend testimony -7.5 minutes )

The whole story here and plenty more audio.

Some of my favorites from the KSL comments: (There are just too many to choose from)

Buttars apologizes . . .

Get over it. The world doesn’t revolve around the NAACP and your hypersensitivity to racial remarks. The most racially inflammatory remarks I have ever heard have come from blacks toward one another. The arrogance with which minorities treat whites is palpable in many circles. Quit justifying your existence by creating victims of yourselves.

Explain This

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State Sen. Chris Buttars says the landmark 1955 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that declared public school segregation unconstitutional, was “wrong to begin with.”

Intolerance
by Charles h @ 12:25pm - Thu Feb 14th, 2008

I do not accept that opposition to gay marriage is “intolerant.”I am very tolerant of what others choose to do in private with consenting adults. However, tolerance does NOT require me to celebrate, condone, encourage, nor grant official legal recognition to that conduct.Do YOU understand that.Tolerance is NOT the same as acceptance or celebration or support.I will tolerate others immoral choices. I will NOT be forced into supporting them, granting special benefits to them, or otherwise helping people feel better about those bad choices. (And by choices, I mean the choice to ACT on desires, not the desires themselves, just to avoid the whole red herring of “science.

I’ll end with this ignorant Utahn’s statement made publicly at The Utah Capital (from this post)

Note: Many of the KSL arguments stem from the specious argument that the religious argument against Gay marriage is somehow not the same as bigotry. My Utah friends: IT IS! And it won’t be the first time the Church as promoted bigotry through doctrinal authority.BTW: I TOO am absolutely SURE I speak for God (if she exists) on this one.

Did Senator Buttars not know he was on a Web cam, or did he know and not care?

Cliff, reading the Comments on KSL.com can cause brain damage. Do use caution!

Seriously, Utahns must call for Buttars’ resignation immediately. He must step down.

    Rich,

    The YouTube is just audio.

Please offer my workplace productivity consulting services for your Nazi masters.

I saw the Web cam clip of the “black baby” quip on the TV news. Apparently this is a new feature of the state legislature. I wonder if Buttars knew about it.

  5. Cliff Lyon Says:

Buttars knew he was being recorded. His problem is he was raised by bigots and still doesn’t realize it, so his learnt-metaphors are not filed away properly in his brain.

I’m guessing Buttars suffered serious emotional abuse from a parent or two who claimed religious authority while teaching young Christopher to be a (proud) bigot.

I’m a rock or an a**hole. I cannot help who I am. You all elected me and should be ashamed of yourselves. You might commend me for even running for office, since it is really a sacrifice for me to actually serve the community and attempt to reflect your values.

Step up you whiners, if you think you can do it any better. Don’t vote for me then whine when my a**holiness rises to the surface.

    Just sayin’.

My parents know his family. Quote from my dad: “Those Buttars’ have always been smug know-it-alls.”

Sometimes I imagine heaven exists and I fantasize about meeting these evil religious extremists in the afterlife.

I picture them being all confused and angry when they discover that God’s only test was the compassion in there hearts and the humility in their heads, and the atheist end up in the higher level (Mormon heaven) because the religious folks were complicit in the fabrication of the Trinity and all the other ridiculous human constructs surrounding religion.

If there is a God, she is disgusted by the whole religion thing starting with Moses, Jesus and ending with Joseph.

I used to think the photo of ‘his hindness’ was a product of Photo-shop til I spotted the pic on page 8 of Saturdays Trib. Apparently there’s at least two of em! RUN!

It seems some people are scared that other ethnicity’s will advance, scared they will be pushed out of being on top. He probably thinks he comes from some divine race, little does he know he is just as mixed as anyone else. This is AMERICA everyone was an immigrant at sometime, and it’s 2008 there’s alot of interracial dating going on…. it probably drives him crazy that this state is no longer predominantly Caucasian. I grew up here, Half Ugandan Half white In an LDS family that 20 years ago encouraged my mom to date my dad dispite his ethnicity. The senator is a disgrace to his Country, State, Faith and Self.
