Thanks as always to Norm at OneGoodMove for providing this video.

Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment on today’s Countdown was a scathing rebuke of President Bush for continuing to play the fear card, trying to scare the hell out of the American people and vowing to veto any FISA legislation that does not contain telecom amnesty.

You are a liar, Mr. Bush, and after showing some skill at it, you have ceased to even be a very good liar.

And your minions like John Boehner — your Republican congressional crash dummies who just happen to decide to walk out of Congress when a podium-full of microphones await them — they should just keep walking, out of Congress and if possible, out of the country.

For they — and you, sir — have no place in a government of the people, by the people, for the people.

The lot of you, are the symbolic descendants of the despotic middle managers of some banana republic, to whom “Freedom” is an ironic brand name, a word you reach for, when you want to get away with its opposite.

Thus, Mr. Bush, your panoramic invasion of privacy is dressed up as “protecting America.”

  1. caveat Says:

What’s with the ’sir’ crap, Keith?

  2. glenn Says:

And the dem senators that voted for it, and to provide immunity for the telecoms for past actions at federal behest? What are they?

If you are to excuse illegal aliens and their employers, what’s the big deal about having your privacy invaded? They are are only laws created under the direction of just a goddamn piece of paper.

It has already begun. Choosing which laws are “good” and those we would like to ignore without due process destroys the entire mechanism. Welcome to the world that your politics has helped CREATE!!

No doubt when you conjure up and utter the spells…the monsters will APPEAR!!

The Rule of Law is overrated anyway.

  3. Larry Bergan Says:

How many Edward R. Murrow speeches does this guy have to give before this nightmare ends? The first one was when Bush came to Salt Lake and Rumsfeld was here to call people who were against the president, appeasers. That was the last straw for Olbermann who was angry about Katrina. His “special comments” are priceless and I’ll bet Bush’s handlers make sure he doesn’t even know they exist.

    caveat:

He always says “sir” with disdain.

    glenn:

It’s true that SOME Democrats vote for more illegal wiretapping. It’s also true that ALL Republicans did. No difference in the parties? Get real!

  4. glenn Says:

Keeping it as real as I can.

The biggest horror shows this century were all spawned with a “progressive” rubric. nazism, stalinism, maoism, pol pot…I mean must we review again and again? The mental weakness of the followers of these socialist communist progressive movements leads to the falling of them into totalitarian hands. Now we read that women are swooning during obama speeches. Remember when that last happened?

There isn’t any difference. Just watch and wait. Sorry Larry, but where the power lies, there isn’t any difference. Even if, we are the sum total of the outcome. Just because you think you are on the “good” side, it doesn’t matter, what matters is how it turns out.

I am beginning to think that progressives choose their side for egoistic reasons. Same way the religious right chooses their policy stances. Both sides are shrill and freakish.

I pray to allow the middle to gain sway and relieve us of the extremism.
