A Soldier’s Peace: The Movie

From Kristen Thompson at A Soldier’s Peace:
We finally finished our documentary of Sgt. Marshall Thompson’s 500-mile walk through Utah. We were able to interview peace activists Martin Sheen, Cindy Sheehan, Daniel Ellsberg, M.C. Hammer, Rocky Anderson, and many more. The film explores the cost and effectiveness of peace activism, apathy regarding the war, and the role of women in the movement, among other things. You can check out the trailer at www.soldierspeace.com.
Our documentary is screening at festivals throughout the country, but we’re most excited about the Utah premiere because we hope to be joined by the people who made this walk possible. If you walked with Marshall, you may be in the film. You can purchase tickets at the door, or on-line HERE. If you’re not in the area, and would like to organize a screening, e-mail us.
If you would like to carpool with people from your area, please e-mail us with relevant information (where you live, if you need a ride, or if you can drive, etc.) and we’ll put you in touch with other interested people.
Thanks again for your involvement in Marshall’s walk in fall of 2006. Hopefully you can be a part of our Utah premiere, as well. Please forward this e-mail to anyone you know who might be interested and we hope to see you on March 8th.

Don’t call Cindy Sheehan a “peace activist” She is not for peace at all but has taken sides against the United States. She has called al qaeda “freedom fighters”, She has allied herself with known enemies of the United States including the murderous dictators Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro (and now Raul Castro) along with Islamist terrorist groups. Recently she was in Egypt defending jihadists. She is very much pro-war as long as it is against the United states in which she vehemently hates.
February 19th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Ones (wo)mans freedom fighter is anothers’ insurgent.
What we can say about her, amongst all other opponents of the war, is that she has given all her treasure to America, and has more spine than any dissenter. She makes the democrat leadership look like the grease spots they are.
There was time when our Founding Fathers were called insurgents. Read the London papers of the day, it is fraught with descriptions of American rebels as cowards, criminals, and curs, to many worth less than the rope to hang them.
…and so the wheel turns Ken.
“Sic transit gloria mundi”.

“Sic transit gloria mundi” latin for “Thus passes the glory of the world”(wikipedia)
This is exactly the attitude that many on the left have today including Cindy Sheehan. You long to see the fall of The United States and will do your part to make that happen. Even if it means getting in league with our enemies. You don’t see them as enemies but they would slit your throat in a heart beat if given a chance. You call them freedom fighters but what freedom are they fighting for? Freedom to not have to look at an uncovered woman, freedom from having sex with a woman that still has a clitoris? Freedom from having to bear other people praying to a different God, or no God at all? Freedom from having to talk to an educated woman? Free from having your own opinions and ideas? Freedom to keep what you earn? Freedom from voting in free elections? Freedom from listening to the music or watching movies you enjoy? Freedom from having to decide your own destiny? Freedom from having to choose a mate, freedom from allowing gays to live, freedom from allowing non-believers to live? freedom from the joys of life.
If that is how you define freedom, then I guess they are freedom fighters.

The terrible force of ragged peoples, with nary running water or electricty, could conjure a spell sooo powerful that it could force us to be tricked into an illusion that we would then run ourselves off a cliff, like a bunch of lemmings.
Or at least spend ourselves into oblivion. Think about that as you pay 4 dollars a gallon for gas this summer.
February 20th, 2008 at 12:55 am
I ‘aint skeered. That can be your job Ken.
The rest of us will defend the US from real enemies, like the Oath says… from all enemies, “foreign and domestic”.
These idiots cannot even manufacture a toaster.
The Soviets were diverted, never mind that they had(HAVE) a nuclear arsenal, a navy, then a 10 million man army, tens of thousands of tanks, cannon, jets, etc, etc. We maintained our freedoms just fine during this far more dangerous period. Stop over reacting, you sound like a child that has found a spider in their bed.
If they ever land here it will be like the gates of Vienna in 1520. They cannot defeat us, they can only freak us out to the extent we destroy ourselves. Get a hold of yourself man!!
We have all those freedoms you mentioned, they don’t have them, they are as weak as it gets. As if they could ever apply their freakish habits upon the armed American populace. What do you think the American Jihad reaction to such idiocy would be? Are you so enamored of changing their ways? The recruitment office can’t be far.
Really Ken, are you that skeered of these whack jobs? I’m not, and am well familiar with slitting throats, fairly handy with a knife from my hunting days, they have nothing on elements of our crazed populace.
February 20th, 2008 at 1:07 am
It was the shrill over reaction to Cindy that was being referenced by…
“Sic transit gloria mundi”
To be so frightened, with so little composure, and fall to whimpering as you just did, is truly to see the glory of America pass.
Good Lord preserve us.

Cindy Sheehan is just struggling to find the truth in a world of lies. Her transition from mother to activist was forced on her by the Republican party as it exists today. Any leader in the world today, no matter how bad, is made to look good by comparison to ours. Any one of them could kick George’s ass in a debate. That is a fact we have to face. Our “leader” and “leaders” are some of the worst hypocrites in history.
We can only pray they will change quickly and restore some honor to us like so many, including Sgt. Thompson who cannot seem to get covered in our war waging media.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:45 am
You don’t notice Larry that as democrats have aided and abetted bush, Cindy has asked too many questions of the bush collaborators, and in turn they have taken to savaging her, despite that this brave woman has given her treasure(son) to the misguided cause brought to being upon our Nation, in an entirely bi-partisan fashion.
There is something missing in the left to so completely ignore the complicity of those that they would have lead us further into oblivion. Loyal opposition? Meaningless transition.
If you don’t recall Cindy Sheehan left the democrat party.
The coup is complete

Cindy will come back as soon as the Democrats, bolstered by the huge numbers of people voting D instead of R prove we are the party of peace. Then we can get rid of the dead wood incumbents like Schumer and Feinstein.
February 20th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
The above comments so concisely capture the essence of these times. I’m priviliged to be able to read the likes of this board for your all your very astute and thoughtful commentary. Thankyou.
And thankyou too Ken. I like my women with clitorii (that for which the penii is analgous). Why cut either? A childs’ freedom to choose?
February 20th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Larry, if you plan to get rid of democrat party dead wood, be sure to bring along a log truck.
A loader, a skyline system, and a chipper could be of great value too.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
What is the difference between the mutilation of the clitoris, and the mutilation of the penis in male circumcision?
It is interesting how cultural norms blind people so thoroughly. Saved my own boy from the knife, took some doing…my wife agonized, though she married and consummated with my heathen pagan self.
It was so strange really, to explain it to her in this way. A normally intelligent creature, she was rendered an indecisive mass of conflicted emotion. About the only argument I ever won. She relented when she decided that a son should look like his Dad. I just shrugged and said to myself, fuckin’ crazy whatever.
The mystics say when you are cut you lose a part of that chakra. Lends itself to greater cultural control.
Sick really, when you get down to what western male circumcision is. Especially the moiles that do it with their teeth. Recent case, poor boy got herpes from the freak who did his.
February 20th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
A chipper eh? I’m reminded of ‘Fargo”, the movie. I can imagine it with pols.
February 20th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
In more fun and games in the corruption dept. look who’s goin to court!!
Unfortunately, there would be little value in chipping or processing our useless democrat representatives, as most of them are CULL.
That is wood that is deemed 90% or more rotten or unsound.
The republican reps are more of the petrified wood variety, and would require a chipper with a diamond auger blade, and would not lead to a economically or environmentally viable product.
February 20th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Yea I think the whole circumcision thing even with males is a bad idea. Here we chop off parts of boys bodies for no real reason just because of cultural norms. Go anywhere else in the world except maybe Israel and it is almost a dead practice, but in the United States its still very common. So where does a guy go to get his foreskin back?
February 21st, 2008 at 7:50 am
Ken, you might just try the cargo bay of rendition flight 909, taking off for the black planet in…5…4…3…2..
Talk about yer cultural differences!
And we never said a word.
February 21st, 2008 at 4:04 pm
glenn asks “What is the difference between the mutilation of the clitoris, and the mutilation of the penis in male circumcision?”
While both are barbaric, female circumcision is far more brutal. The main difference is that with female circumcision it takes away sexual pleasure for the woman and in many cases makes sex painful. Add to that the build up of scar tissue that can result in dangerous and/or deadly births.
February 21st, 2008 at 4:26 pm
There is little doubt that male circumcision reduces sensitivity, there is plenty of scar tissue in some cases, though the issues of childbirth don’t exist. Of course we identify with gender, and I can only remember the horror show that my friends child went through as his infant penis got infected, and then scarred. The screaming, at the event was my first clue that it wasn’t “alright”. It’s just all plain crazy and indicative how cultural norms are quite stupifying, and clearly apolitical.
The events are both inflicted on innocents that have no say, and no one to defend them. Come at my dick with a knife now, and see where it gets you.
Don’t imagine either sex has a grip what the other goes through. Fundamental. I find that often in our culture it is the women that want their boys circumcised. It is known that circumcision reduces sensitivity and prolongs the point of male orgasm. Selfish maybe girls?
Either way, my point is, it is to me amusing that some judge others for their practises, while we mutilate our own baby boys. Then there is the infant piercing phenomena, and of course the mutilation of piercing and tattooing in general.
It’s all creepy to me. To each their own, upon “adulthood”…, I guess.

This is one issue that feminist are near silent on. The brutality that many women face in the Islamic world. I think they are hesitant to speak up because of multiculturalism. Indeed female sexual mutilation is barbaric and unfortunately has come to America as Islam takes a foothold in this country.
Me and my wife had already decided if we had a boy not to circumcise but we were only able to have one child and she is a beautiful girl so we didn’t have to make that decision.
February 22nd, 2008 at 9:38 am
Not all brutality is physical.
As any Father that has been through family court for visitation and custody rights can attest. The damage done in denying access spreads to the children, and I believe is quite evident in society at large. Wayward unattended youth, pants around their ass, metal through their bodies, their flesh a coloring book, they didn’t get at home under the care of loving families. Destroyed by an arbitrary system. Think it’s an accident?
With so many of our own titanic screw ups at the cultural level, it is a wonder to me that we claim any ability at all to charge along pointing fingers everywhere we go.
and Americans can’t understand why people don’t dig ‘em.
February 22nd, 2008 at 11:22 am
When my sister was pregnant with her son I started giving her all the literature I could find on male circumcision — I learned a bit about it in college and was determined if I had a boy that I would not do it and was at an age where I was trying to educate a lot of other people about it as well. Surprisingly it was her husband she had to convince — and it took a lot of convincing. Anecdotally — I haven’t heard that women are more in favor than men, but I have personally heard at least a few men make the argument that they don’t want their sons to be different than other boys.
I have heard about the reduced sensitivity and I think it may be true, but it’s hard to know for sure. My experience with men who have and have not is they both seem to enjoy certain activities about the same amount — but that’s anecodotal and subjective and with numbers far to low to be considered a good sampling ;)
February 22nd, 2008 at 11:24 am
Glenn:
Then, of course, there is the non-physical brutality of women in Utah County - “sister, get in the kitchen [where you belong], and no, you won’t need your shoes!”
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:20 pm
“I don’t want my son to be different than his mutilated cohorts”.
So we’ll cut off one of the most sensitive parts of his body to accommodate this cultural abnormality.
Speaks volumes. No doubt the habits of ourselves is a fearsome thing to a great many cultures.
I think the indiscriminate bombing thing and not facing enemies in the field is easily the greatest cowardice ever witnessed in the history of man. Right up there with the suicide bomber, but in that case the devotion to “duty” is absolute.
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Take from a person that isn’t Jenni, it’s more sensitive, in the same way your flesh beneath the folds of your labia, and clitoral hood is. The constant exposure of sensitive parts to clothing(underwear), if the nerves are not cut, desensitizes the organ. Contrary to some belief…sensitivity does not lead to premature ejaculation, in my experience is a problem of control, and a mental factor at that.
As for health concerns, if you can’t master washing your willy, it will be the least of your problems in life.
February 23rd, 2008 at 12:17 am
So how exactly did a post about a soldier turn anti-war activist turn into a discussion on male circumcision?
February 23rd, 2008 at 8:18 am
“Me and my wife had already decided if we had a boy not to circumcise”
Ken, Better check your scripture on that idea. What with your penis envy over the lost tribes.
btw: Its My wife and I.
love
February 23rd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
It was the reference of having sex with clitless women in the Islamic world, that you made Ken, as an inclusion of why we are in Iraq and the ME in general. Saving that piece of flesh.Or having the freedom to not sleep with clitless women. Or something.
I was the person that pointed out that males are mutilated in our culture. It’s really a passed on Jewish tradition, I may be wrong, but I don’t think hacking on the infant penis is referenced in the New Testament. I’m pretty sure there is no reference to penis hacking in the Book of Mormon either, it’s an Old Testament Jew thing, though I may be wrong.
Please send me the scriptures in the BOM and the NT that refer to infant penis hacking. I would like to read them.
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:39 pm
The LDS Church has no position on circumcision that I know of. However I know it is widely practiced by church members at least in the United States. I would say for cultural reasons rather than religious.
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:57 pm
The cultural reason is Jewish. It goes back to the Old Testament. What is funny is that it becomes “cultural” without even knowing that it was a strictly Jewish practice, to the goyim.
So it is a fundamentally religious reason, even if the dick hackers don’t know it.
Priceless.
February 24th, 2008 at 7:01 am
Interesting. Ken is mostly right. Though I can’t think of another JS based teaching that simply fell away without revelation.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
February 24th, 2008 at 8:13 am
And the cultural differences of prayerfully hacking away at penii, vs prayerfully hacking away at clitorii are what exactly? There are some but I’m gonna let the genius’ among us sort it out. Peace.
February 24th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Who would need a revelation to stop hacking on infant penis?
The cleanliness and health issue is not an issue. It is no longer recommended or supported by any European health organizations, or health Canada, just to name a few. If it is continued it is strictly a cultural or religious practice.
So replace circumcision, with female circumcision in any of these sentences, and we can call the Arabs crazy and evil again. Priceless.
Do you need a revelation to stop hitting your head with a hammer, or can you just stop because it hurts?
February 24th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Here is silly billy kristol telling hillary how to beat obama. I guess there are more people to be scared than are contained within the cult following.
