Fuel, meet fire. Buttars manages to use another racially loaded term.

Seriously, Chris Buttars should probably adopt some sort of monastic code of silence at this point since it’s becoming increasingly obvious he’s incapable of actually speaking in public without proving himself to be a clueless dolt.

Buttars apparently has decided that the long and painful history of lynching in this nation - you know that fun practice where a group of little dicked white men get together and brutalize, beat, assault and ultimately murder and hang for public viewing whatever African American happens to be available, that history - is somehow analogous to the outrage over his long history of bigoted and ignorant remarks:

In his first extensive comments since he was called on last week to resign over racially insensitive remarks, Sen. Chris Buttars said he regrets the pain it has caused, but his political enemies have formed a “hate lynch mob” over the issue.

“By last weekend, including in your paper, I was being called a monster,” Buttars said Monday in an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune. “It was a bad statement, but the statement as I used it had nothing to do with human beings, certainly not a black human being.” He apologized for his “breach in decorum” last Tuesday, and endured the early criticism. But, he said, the reports in the news media and the scores of e-mails and phone calls he has received have become more hateful.

“To have it taken to the extreme of hate that it has achieved is . . . I have no idea how people could act like that,” he said. “I thought once again the first couple days, ‘Well you’re getting beat up but you deserve it, you made a mistake.’ But then they started getting meaner and meaner and meaner to the point it is just a hate lynch mob.”

Are you kidding me? What a pathetic excuse for a human being. What the senator has experienced is in not comparable to a lynching. And the fact that he thinks it is shows just how clueless he is. I did not believe it was possible to make this worse but invoking the racist nightmare of lynching as somehow comparable to his experience seems to me a worse insult.

I have to be honest here - there’s simply no conceivable way to respond to a remark that unbelievably tone deaf, uninformed and self-pitying other than to say the good senator needs to get his sorry pasty face and bigoted ass out of politics. He’s not fit for public office.

Butters was on his game when pointing out that his critics were ‘hate-filled’. Takes one to know one.

I’ve been paying way too much attention to the antics of Sen. Buttars (R-NoOneAdmitsToVotingForButtars), but maybe it’s time to just stop and feel sorry and horrified for him and for his constituents.

He just doesn’t get it, and he never will get it - his blinkers extend all the way around his head.

I’m ginny, and I approve this anonymous comment about Fully Blinkered Buttars. Dang, should have checked before hitting “post!”

So, what can we do about it? Can we start an organization that will help educate voters and keep issues like this in their minds come election time? There’s so much time between now and November, and despite outrage even being expressed in letters to the editor by people in his district, my guess is that come Nov, most people will just click (R) like the automatons they are trained to be, and we’ll be stuck with this guy for another 4 years.

Can Equality Utah and NAACP and any other interested orgs combine forces and raise the money to get someone else in front of the voters in Dist 10? I’ve written to my state senator so often that i’m sure he’s getting sick of hearing from me. But it’s the only avenue open to me, at least that I can see right now. But surely there’s GOT to be a way we can get this asshole out of office?? You know Eagle Forum will spend all sorts of money to get him re-elected, so the opposing campaign needs to be organized and well-funded. Anyone know anyone in West Jordan willing to take this on?

Ginny - I’ve been thinking something along those lines. Chris Buttars actually has no idea why his remarks are offensive. He actually does not know - it simply never entered his mind. He needs a week at the Inclusion Center’s adult camp.

Sheri and Ginny, gotta love democracy huh? My advice is move to a better State.

Despite what people may think I am, my assumed opinions should be considered the “heavy bar” at the gym. Prepare you all for the reps you will encounter. Do some reps baby, and answer the opposition with something other than incredulity and whining.

If you have no answers for my posts, you sure won’t be able to lift any Utah republicans.

I live in Washington, and we don’t suffer from blinkered politics nearly as much. I’m sure it’s the weather, staring into the Sun can make you an idiot.

What do want from a State that calls itself the Beehive? Who get’s the honey, honeys?
