Apparently Big Words Scare Utah Legislators

I’ve been trying to write an appropriately sarcastic and ironic response to our state legislators opposition to the IB program. It’s almost impossible to satire someone who does not know the difference between “socialization” and “socialism.” It’s equally difficult deploying sarcasm in response to someone who thinks the any positive mention of the UN is somehow anti-American. Frankly, between Margaret Dayton, who was a flaming idiot when she was in the House and has clearly gotten no better, and Darin Peterson who is flaming idiot everywhere, there’s a level of flat out stupidity in Utah’s legislature that defies irony.

Peterson, who obviously is in desperate need of a dictionary, said:

“Socialization has been a failure everywhere it’s been tried,” Peterson said. “Europe is bankrupt. The Soviet Union fell long ago. And China’s had to reform its ways.”

How stupid can a person be?

Anyway, this morning, I ran to the store and bought a dictionary, highlighted the word “socialization” and marked the page and mailed it to Senator Peterson. Hopefully it will help him in understanding complicated topic. I wanted to highlight the words “idiot”, “moron” and “ignoramus” but managed to control myself.

Not to be left out of the stupid olympics, Margaret Dayton decided the IB program is dangerous because it’s from Switzerland - you know the Swiss. Can’t trust them.

She has a problem with the program’s association with the International Baccalaureate Organization, based in Geneva. She issued a written statement Friday that contends Switzerland’s replacement of its arbitration rules in 2004 with those of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law taint by extension the IB itself.

This means, she said, that high schools signing on to the IB program must also by extension submit any program disputes and frustrations at the local school level to UN-inspired regulations and the goal of creating “global citizens.”

“I would like to have American citizens who know how to function in a global economy, not global citizens,” Dayton said.

God forbid! Students in IB programs might think brown people are equal to us pasty white folks. Then who knows what might happen?! (Yeah, even sarcasm pales in comparison to Dayton’s stupidity.)

It’s a good thing there are no written qualifications for being a state legislator. It’s a shame these idiots are drafting laws that affect all of us.

Yes I am sure it was the arbitration clause that got her all in a tizzy to vote against the IB programs and call them “anti-American.” Please! Talk about retroactive justification. Sen. Dayton may know what words mean, but she is too stupid to bother to think about why she doesn’t like something before she votes against it. She just asks the Eagle Forum what to do.

The trib this am suggests she’s priding herself of her wingnut propensity. Hey every age needs its jesters. (And will have them)! sigh.
