Reagan’s Opinion of G. Bush 1986
Beneath the photo from the REAGAN DIARIES is an actual quote Reagan wrote about George “W.” in his diaries recently edited by author, Doug Brinkley and published by Harper Collins
“A moment I’ve been dreading. George brought his near-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I’ll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they’ll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.”
From the REAGAN DIARIES——entry dated May 17, 1986.
Even old Ronnie could make an accurate assessment of future GOP Presidential candidates.

So, it’s true!
I wonder if the old fart would have violated his 11th commandment to try and save the country if he hadn’t got sick. Oh well, too late.

Smartest thing Reagan ever said!!
Too bad the diaries were not published prior to 2000. The world would likely be a much safer place.

Political satire sometimes hits so close to the mark that it passes for truth. Kinsley made it up. As we pointed out last September.

Another believable hoax. So what are you going to post on April 1?
March 11th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Huh?

Hate to burst your bubble there Cliff, but before you write something you should do a bit of research first then you don’t make an ass of yourself.

Reagan had much more class than you give him credit for.
Snopes has the status on this story as FALSE

Thanks Ken, I think we’ve been down this road before. I am well aware of the fact that the story is false. I don’t care.
Since the right-wing (your people) have abandoned any regard for truth or the rule of law, indeed since the Republican party at large has decided it is OK to lie to the American people with the now predictable result of having their obedient, authoritarian followers and the media gleefully repeat those lies, I am committed as a warrior against evil, that I will do whatever it takes to crush you all.
I would be happy to provide several recent examples of your peoples’ lies upon request. I would relish the opportunity to refer you to about 900 demonstrable, provable lies just from the Bush administration leaving out completely, citizens and media lies from people like Judith Mill, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity et al.
Since today are the truth police perhaps you are already aware of the lies YOU have been repeating for about SEVEN YEARS!!!
PS: The content of the diary entry attributed to Reagan is of course accurate and true and even if Reagan didn’t say it, he would agree with it as do 75% of Americans.

Spot on Cliff!

I am well aware of the fact that the story is false. I don’t care.
Well, that certainly makes me less likely to believe anything I read on OneUtah in the future.

Hi Lucidity, my love,
I admire your discerning nature. As the seeker of truth I know you to be, I don’t doubt your intuitive ability to recognize truth.
Tell me, which statement sounds more true?:
A. “the one [George Bush] who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job”
B. “Fight ‘em over there so we don’t have to fight’em over here?”

[...] ran across this on One Utah and I just had to share. Reagan wrote about George “W.†in The Reagan Diaries recently edited [...]

I agree with lucidity. We’re all angry as hell, and wars can, and are won with lies, but this is a line we can’t cross. It’s hard enough trying to figure things out.
With that being said, I guess I would be happy if Elliot Spitzer turns out to have trapped the FBI in an illegal wiretap by pretending to have sex with a prostitute.

Whenever I catch a news report or an interview with any number of the top of the pop pols and thier apologists, wherein the speaker seems to be on my wave-length, I’m driven to question again just where ‘the truth’ and morality fit into this ongoing creation we are presently conjuring up. That struggle usually only lasts for a second or two.
As for Cliffs’ non-chalance, anything can be true and of substance…IF YOU WANT it to be. (See also Weapons of mass destruction and Heck of a job, Brownie and and and).

I figure in another 2o years Cliff, you’ll be a republican. Maybe sooner.
March 17th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Just because the Republicans lie, doesn’t make it OK for Democrats to do it too….
March 17th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
“Since the right-wing (your people) have abandoned any regard for truth or the rule of law, indeed since the Republican party at large has decided it is OK to lie to the American people”
What a load. The Republican party, and the Right Wing, has done no such thing. Not only do you lie about what they have done, but you hold up that lie as justification for you to lie.
“The content of the diary entry attributed to Reagan is of course accurate and true”
Not even close.
“and even if Reagan didn’t say it, he would agree with it as do 75% of Americans.”
Right. Like you speak for Reagan and 75 percent of Americans.

Larry:
I strongly disagree with you. The quote is utterly believable and, as they say, had me going. I’m just glad I didn’t make a fool of myself and go around telling everybody he said it.

It could be factual but too bad it is not true…
