Getting Past the Winter Soldier News Blackout

Today is the third day of the four-day Winter Soldier II hearings. As you can tell by reading the daily newspapers and watching CNN, MSNBC and other so-called news channels, there has been a near-total blackout in the major media. The Washington Post ran a story today, but it was buried in the Metro section with the other local news. Fortunately, alternative media outlets and the Web give us access to this ground-breaking event. Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are testifying about what has been done to those countries in the name of America.

Pacifica Radio stations and Free Speech TV (Channel 9415 of DISH Network), are broadcasting these hearings, gavel to gavel. Of course, the Iraq Veterans Against the War website has streaming video.

No end in sight

It amazes me that the media can justify not giving this story more attention.

There was another story buried by the media and the Pentagon this week as well.

If there is any justice, one day everybody involved in hiding the important, society nourishing, news stories will be removed, jailed and replaced by all of these financially struggling blogs, like Rawstory and BradBlog that seem to actually care about what’s happening around them.

The Russian people knew that “Provda” was government propaganda and just laughed it off, but the American version with all it’s colorful, whooshy graphics, interspersed with sexual ads seems to go unnoticed. “Seems” is the operative word here because we didn’t actually vote this war mongering monkey into office in the first place. They keep telling us we change our minds at the last minute and vote for the warbringers, but it just ain’t so. The original winter soldier Kerry won the 2004 election, but we all believe he was “swiftboated” and masses of people thought he was akin to a draftdodger. Just watch it happen again with McCain. No matter what happens, at the last minute, everybody’s going to vote for the warbringer. Not dead people, or cartoon characters, but electrons on computer chips. Again.

    Anyone feel a draft?

Nobody will admit we f*cked it all up so badly. Damn shame. Blaming the new Dem administration for not fixing it all on day 1 will be a snap however.

  4. Ethan Says:

    I blame the media blamers.

  5. Larry Bergan Says:

Atta boy Ethan! You’re coming along nicely!

  6. Ethan Says:

It’s a line from King of the Hill.

  7. Larry Bergan Says:

That’s a relief, I thought you were serious. King of The Hill is a very clever cartoon. As soon as my country is turned away from fascism, I’ll find more time to watch it.
