McCain’s America

Thanks to Larry for pointing this out. It illustrates our conservative America rooted in a past that belonged to rural, suburban, simple-minded white folks.

They are killing us because they are so poorly informed and so vulnerable to the Rovian dialectic.

They are killing us.

It’s sad. The Republicans, (or Republicans who say they’re Independents or Libertarians out of shame), should take their footballs and baseballs and go home. We’ll stop using our television sets for the bread and circus distractions of commercialized pro sports for the time being, and start using them to spark participation in real debates of real issues between real people.

Although it’s surprising that Tim Russert is dead at such a young age, I won’t miss him too much because I have been fast forwarding through his program for a couple of years now to see if there were any new faces on that weren’t determined to be safe voices for the Bush administration, including McCain. This is a man who didn’t have have any trouble with sitting next to Rush Limbaugh and giving him full credibility.

Edward Murrow used to end his program by saying “good night and good luck”, Russert usually ended his program by saying “what about those Bills?” I won’t miss that.

    Sorry sports fans.

The saddest thing is the fact that these people who are theoretically like minded members of a larger local community, are not talking.

If they are waiting for something, they should be talking to each other. Its the neighborly thing to do. Could be these guys are performing their individual responsibility to catch some zzzzzzzzzs.

I’ve been to a million of these things for democrats and I can guarantee, you would NEVER get a shot like this of people holding campaign signs while dosing off.

    They vote!

People who don’t register and don’t vote deserve this punishment.

Cliff Lyon calling folks poorly informed……

    That’s a riot…..!

  8. Albert O. Says:

Actually, jd, the more apt phrase is “stupid and susceptible,” and your comments practically beg that you be placed into that category.

  9. Cliff Lyon Says:

    Ginny,

Dunnoh. Larry just sent the picture.

  10. jdberger Says:

Try to take the high road Albert. The personal insults aren’t very becoming.

  11. Albert O. Says:

Wasn’t meant as an insult, jd.

As Norman Mailor put it following the reelection of GWB in 2004, America has become a nation of stupid and susceptible people. While I might be convinced that you are not entirely stupid, you certainly give all indications of being entirely susceptible.

Let’s be frank, jd, you are bending over backward to defend GWB. What would you like me to think, and why?

  12. jdberger Says:

“Bending over backwards” would imply that some sort of extra-ordinary effort was being made.

I don’t think that I’ve been defending President Bush as much as criticising his opposition. Actually, it’s easier and much more interesting.

Finally, among the “New Journalists” - I prefer Hunter S Thompson and Tom Wolfe.

(Were Americans “stupid and susceptible” when they elected Democrats to the House and Senate in 2006, Albert?)
