Impeachment Hearing Scheduled for July 25th

The good news: House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers will convene an impeachment hearing at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 25th. The hearing will address abuses of power by the Bush administration.
The bad news: This hearing has been described as “preliminary” and “informational.” As Rep. Conyers put it, “We’re not doing impeachment, but he [Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who introduced 36 articles of impeachment] can talk about it.”
The hard-to-find news: Even though Keith Olbermann mentioned it last night on MSNBC, a Google search turns up no mainstream media stories about the fact that an impeachment hearing is scheduled to take place a week from tomorrow.
UPDATE: Today Chairman Conyers issued a press release.
“Over the last seven plus years, there have been numerous credible allegations of serious misconduct by officials in the Bush Administration,” Conyers said. “At the same time, the administration has adopted what many would describe as a radical view of its own powers and authorities. As Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, I believe it is imperative that we pursue a comprehensive review commensurate to this constitutionally dangerous combination of circumstances. Next Friday’s hearings will be an important part of that ongoing effort.”
Conspicuously missing from Conyer’s announcement: the word “impeachment.”

If the media does cover this, it will be to show how silly Dennis Kucinich looks up there all alone. Cowards all, from sea to shining sea!
