I hadn’t heard about this. I’ll bet most Americans haven’t either.
The obvious question is, how many times each day does this happen in American and an innocent man goes to jail?
PLEASE pass this around. It needs to be part of our national psyche.

So, a police state is one in which cops do something wrong to an “innocent”, are caught, investigated and possibly charged with crimes - and the “innocent” is set free?
Uh, that’s called the system working. Bad actors are punished. Innocents are set free.
Of course, the moral of the story is that it’s a bad idea to assault someone just because they call you an asshole.
Had Heeney (sp) not knocked some guy’s hat off, had he just decided to keep on trucking to Mom’s house this wouldn’t have happened.
Instead, he decided to escalate the situation.

There is also the recent case of the ABC producer being arrested near the Convention for standing on a sidewalk (well really for waiting to film VIP donors) and the two journalists that went to the RNC that had their equipment confiscated in Minneapolis by police. Seems even journalists have to be careful of police using heavy handed enforcement. The one Cliff put up here is by far the worst I have seen in a long time. The teeth thing is grueling.

You guys really are Nazis. You just watched a video of police brutality which surfaced after the cops lied in court.
…and all you can do is defend the cops and suggest that justice prevails in America?
You guys are so freaking high its frightening.
Perhaps you can find the justice in these cases.

The system, in this case, worked.
I challenge you to show where I, or Bob S., defended the cops.

It sounded to me like the comments were defending the system for catching the officers and letting the man go, not defending the officers. (I can’t comment on the video since I have not been able to get it to play.)

I usually defend the police because they haven’t harassed me when I carry my Impeach Bush sign, but, OH, the sound of that mans teeth hitting the street reminds me of that horribly chilling scene from American History X.

David is right, JD was just defending the system that prevent the miscarriage of justice from going any further.
No one I’ve seen are defending the police, I certainly am not. It is reprehensible behavior and not representative of the vast majority of law enforcement officers.
But these and others are still the “Only Ones” you think should be able to keep and bear arms (military excepted), Right?

I wish the world were as black and white as JD has made it in his mind. Fairly typical of angry white gun freaks.
What I don’t see from either of you is the remotest concern for anyone but yourselves. You may think you are living the American dream because you not hurting, but I can assure you, if the American dream isn’t working for everyone, yours is at risk.

The fact that justice may be served in this case is hardly an argument against the police state.
…or do we assume somehow without the video justice would have been served. Does JD mean to say, that these cops were a rogue exception? That such things never happen unless we see them on video tape?
Is JD real sure only Denver undercover cops lie in court and get away with it?

Don’t be idiotic Cliff. If it is on film, it will be prosecuted.
You are the person that wishes to disarm the legal populace. In this face of the goon squad, doesn’t having an armed populace have any advantages to you? Are you willing to trust this, in your words, this “police state” to treat you properly should you come across it in a negative way?
Aren’t the police in their illegal tendencies deserving to be afraid of an armed law abiding populace? Damn right. Same way any boot licking tory was afraid of armed Patriots.
If you actually think we live in police state, do you think that a disarmed populace would be at their mercy to any success? If the police state is in fact established as you say without recourse to the innocent population, how is it you would have good people disarmed?
Are Americans to suffer what your ancestors did without any recourse to basic fundamental human right to lethal self defense….especially against the goon squads that we are paying for with our own tax dollars?
As for your judgment against jd and Bob, please try not to be our societies nanny there Cliff. Charity begins at home.

Up here, a young man was abused by the police. Being no pacifist he overwhelmed one of them, seized his tazer, and proceeded to shoot both cops and hook up both officers to their own abusive device and zapped them repeatedly.
Now he was tazed first for hardly any reason, and did not succumb to the typical fish flop that most of us are familiar with.
The pain was so intense his lawyer may argue that he was driven to survival instinct against policemen that had transcended their scope as officers.
Maybe next time the two cops may learn a little bit more conflict resolution. They are only lucky he wasn’t lethally armed.

Let’s clear up Cliffs’ stupid confused mind. So the cops beat the crap out of this unarmed person…, I guess they did that because they are afraid? So you excuse the behavior then? It is because they are fearful that they shitkick people half to death in your mind?

The police cannot do whatever they wish, because they are the police. Act criminally and there is no difference in the right to self defense than an attack by any other cretin.
In fact many cops are simple cretins. We should well out gun them, all the time. Perhaps they should be armed with nothing but a club, like the Bobbies of old. Sure would lead to a bit more respect in approaching the public.
If it were up to your way of thinking, there wouldn’t be any of your people left. The disconnect between your own history, the prevalent reality, and the self destructive pacifism you support, or pretend to rather, are completely out of synchronization.

Organizations with differing opinions should be shut down.
Citizens should be disarmed.

Cliff, you’re WAY more Mussolini than you are Ghandi.
And just like the Fascists of the past, you justify your rabid intolerance by citing the purity of your cause - the end justifying the means.
