“The Speech” (part two)
We’re in the wonky part of the speech - it’s all taxes and tax cuts and tax changes and policy proposals.
10 year goal to end dependence on oil from the Middle East. Interesting, this is lifted almost entirely from the stump speech.
“Now is not the time for small plans. Now is the time to meet our moral obligations.”
. . . “if you commit to serving your community or our country we will make sure you can afford a college education.”
Taking on health care/insurance. He talked about watching his mother fight with the insurance companies while she was dying of cancer. That connects to lots of people’s experiences.
“We cannot meet 21st century challenges with a 20th century bureaucracy.”
“individual responsibility and mutual responsibility.”

Yup. Custer’s last stand comes to mind.
Hmmmm. You’d think the Indians could have made, at the very least, Custer a POW so he’d have a platform to run on for the presidency! And he could have done the cross-thing at xmas.
