Uh Oh! Palin Elected Governor by Alaskan Secessionist

h/t Rich Warnick

Anyone know of a low stakes poll on whether she’ll be axed before tonight’s speech>

From Georgia at DailyKos:

In the wake of claims by AIP officials that McCain’s VP pick was "an AIP member" in the early 1990s (see background here, here, here, here and here), the McCain campaign–realizing that having Sarah Palin tied to a secessionist group probably isn’t going to win over voters–has gone on the defensive.

As part of their push to prove that McCain’s candidate doesn’t have ties to the radical AIP, they released Sarah Palin’s voter registration records (PDF)since 1982. And yes, those records confirm that she has been a registered Republican since that time. And at about the same time the McCain released those records, Lynette Clark, one of the AIP officers who stated that Palin was a "member", retracted her statement.

But as the McCain camp was trying to stamp out one fire, another one flared up yesterday, as we learned that Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd Palin, currently registered as "undeclared," was indeed an official member of the Alaskan Independence Party from October 1995 through July 2002 (except for a few months in 2000).

Given the number of hit pieces I see here there and everywhere, by progressives and related parties, it would seem the pick has accomplished it intent.

Not much if anything will stick to her. I find it interesting that a woman candidate is so attacked by progressives, if she was a democrat all these subjects would be spun to advantage.

The campaigns are running according to plan. It will be close to ensure maximum divisiveness.

Really? I wonder sometimes what Glenn thinks of this “watcher” dude’s observations . . . ;)

This is what some say is Karl Rove’s strategy: put up a big, irresistible target, let the media shoot at it, blame the media, rally the GOP “base.”

    Dan Froomkin on HuffPo:

Is there any evidence that Palin is anything other than an utter neophyte when it comes to issues such as Iraq, the economy, health care, and domestic and foreign policy generally?

Palin’s lack of the most basic prerequisite for the job should be the dominant message of the news coverage. Instead, her selection was hailed as a “bold move,” with her lack of qualifications relegated to the status of a Democratic complaint.

  5. Cliff Lyon Says:

    Don,

I don’t think Glenn even knows of Watchers existence. Or vis a versa.

    LOL . . .

Think Progress has a handy Sarah Palin Digest up, with a summary of the interesting facts that we’ve learned since last Friday.

On VetVoice, Jon Soltz observes that the McCain-Palin campaign has apparently violated operational security by revealing details of the Iraq deployment orders for Palin’s son Track and his unit.

If the McCain-Palin campaign has disclosed details about Track’s company’s movements to gain stories in the press about it, they will have put many American lives in danger - not the least of which would be Track’s.

Senator McCain and Governor Palin need to immediately find out if someone in the campaign violated OPSEC by giving a reporter these details, and if they did, the campaign needs to find out where the source got this information from. Whoever that is, is in it deep.

  9. Richard Warnick Says:

Amazing– MSNBC commentators Peggy Noonan, Mike Murphy and Chuck Todd caught on tape giving their real opinions about Sarah Palin.

    PN: It’s over.

MM: Still McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.

CT: I also think the Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, too.

    PN: Saw Kay this morning.

CT: Yeah, she’s never looked comfortable about this –

    MM: They’re all bummed out.

CT: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?

PN: The most qualified? No! I think they went for this — excuse me– political bullshit about narratives –

CT: Yeah they went to a narrative.

    MM: I totally agree.

PN: Every time the Republicans do that, because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at, they blow it.

MM: You know what’s really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.

CT: This is cynical, and as you called it, gimmicky.

    MM: Yeah.

Yeah glenn, progressives are going to defend a creationist. What century-planet-otherworld-netherworld are we talking about here? OK, I’m giving you ONE mulligan, because that one went right in the lake!

    FORE!!, Splash!

The link doesn’t work for me, but those heads can use that tape in their resume if they ever decide to get a real job in journalism.

  12. Who is watching the watchers Says:

Just watch boys, like I said it has nothing to do with the issues. It has to do with dividing the populous, and you all do a masterful job of helping.

The issues are already decided. What is going on now is a maximization of sectarian division before a essential and controversial exchange of power. Whoever wins, loses, and so on. The status quo is to be maintained.

Larry, of course you won’t support a creationist, it is the personal attacks on her, of a sexist nature that are interesting from the left. You know, what kind of mother can she be going off to be vice president when she has a downs syndrome child and a pregnant 17 year old? The sexist arguments that are flat hilarious coming from the loony left, given what they tend to support and excuse.

  13. Richard Warnick Says:

Larry– The HuffPo link works for me. FYI, the video after Chuck Todd cuts to commercial freezes and it’s just audio, so the transcript basically tells the whole story (I cut off a little at the beginning).

  14. Cliff Lyon Says:

Thanks Richard for summing in all up in a nice package.

For me, personally, I prefer launching each and every surprising fact like a stink bomb into the shit storm, like feces in Republican’s faces.

    Am I a bad person?

    “Am I a bad person”?

Are you looking for approval at your age?

Yes Cliff, you are a bad person.

The link works now. Must have been too much traffic.
