Hmmm. Don’t put them tools away quite yet. I am still having periodic problems connecting.

So am I. Keep watching that. If it happens again tonight, I will throw a fit with bluehost in the am.

Threaten them with having to listen to reruns of McCain’s convention speech everyday until it is fixed. My guess is it won’t be long!

Speaking of re-runs, I couldn’t catch the speech live, so I’m watching it right now. I’m about 33 minutes in and can’t get past the part where he’s talking about alternative energy and says he will “encourage the development and use of flex-fuel, hybrid and electric automobiles.” It’s hilarious!
First, he’s staring at the teleprompter intently like he doesn’t know what he’s saying. “Flex-fuel? What in the hell am I talking about now? Who wrote this shit?!” Next “electric automobiles” comes out so slowly that I think he’s wondering, “Really? They make those?” And to top it off, he gives an obvious eyebrow raise at the end to really reinforce the effect. It’s like he’s thinking “Come on, I’m just slinging a bunch of BS now, aren’t I?” Priceless!
If anyone can get the video of just that clip it would be great. I searched for it and couldn’t find it. Like I said, it’s about 33 or 34 minutes in from the time he stepped on stage.

Thanks, Cliff!

The days when politicians wrote their own speeches are long past, with a few notable exceptions. It would be interesting to have Lincoln-Douglas style debates when both sides spoke a great length. Did our forefathers have longer attention spans?

All these problems with the blog started happening when Cliff went on vacation. I suspect a preemptive “sneak n’ peek.”

Speaking of preemptions, who is doing the programming at KUED. David Brancaccio interviewed Amy Goodman about her illegal arrest at the RNC and KUED decided to put the worst infomercial I’ve ever seen in place of NOW and Bill Moyer’s journal. This isn’t unusual though, it happens with amazing regularity since Bush “took” office.
I’m sure glad I and the other intelligent people of Utah got to watch HOW TO STAY RICH FOR EVER AND EVER, (I’m not kidding, that was the name of the program), instead of being informed.
Go here and press on the video link in “program resources” box on the right side. The interview with Amy is in the second half of the program. Forget watching the interview with Christine Todd Whitman. She is fighting the radical right and I am Santa Clause.
