The Bush Doctrine, which Gov. Sarah Palin just found out about and Senator McCain has refused to condemn, isn’t about pre-emptive war. It’s a doctrine of preventive war, which is totally unacceptable in the civilized world. The Bush Doctrine is why the USA invaded Iraq.
Where would Commander-in-Chief McCain get the additional ground forces needed for the invasion of Iran, for example? He could reinstate the military draft. He could withdraw all our units abruptly from Iraq and bring them home to re-fit and prepare to attack Iran. He could ask for more volunteers to risk their lives in a new preventive war, while lowering recruitment standards even more than they have been already. He could try to find foreign allies who are also gung-ho to invade Iran, and willing to commit hundreds of thousand of soldiers.
What’s the most likely plan?

It may depend on how many divisions we want to station in Georgia, and I don’t mean Ft. Benning. Seriously, our ground forces are stretched pretty thin with current deployments, so the plan must be to threaten to use, or actually use, air and naval power.

Leo– Did you know that significant numbers of Navy and Air Force personnel have been detailed to Iraq occupation duty to make up for the shortfall in the Army and Marines?

Richard, yes I am aware of that, but we still have a lot of air and sea power left. Whether it would be effective given our limited ground resources is a matter of serious concern, however.

Here is what the World Socialist Web Site considers will happen when Obama is elected. These are the true progressives of the world, that stand for labor and observe events from that perspective, not the pretenders like on this site.
It’s going to get chilly, no matter who gets elected. Might as well elect a guy who understands the military, knows killing, like Palin, because it appears we are headed there, even if bubbles is elected. In fact since the psychopath Brezezinski is Obamas adviser, it could be worse under his tutelage.
