The Enquirer says Sarah Palin told friends the relationship was never "consummated".
Never consummated? Who hasn’t heard or used that line about a million times?
The next higher level of admission is, "it didn’t mean anything" or "it only happened once."
Look, I don’t want to fault Sarah Palin for having an affair, or even lying about it. It is a private matter that has nothing to do with her lack of qualifications to be President of The United States.
What it does prove, is that her marriage is strong enough to survive at least one indiscretion. The same can be said for Bill and Hillary’s marriage…and millions of marriages because it happens ALL THE TIME!
So how should we judge people who cheat on their lovers? In my opinion, we should limit our criticism to the hypocrisy meter – the gap between what you ask others to believe about you vs what you really are. Put another way, humility.
What chaffs me about Sarah Palin and ALL reactionary social conservatives, is that they want to impose some rigid standard on other people while at the same time, not living up to those standards.
I stole the following list, for your convenience, from Huffpost. (btw: I originally found references to this article on the Huffington Posts front page. It is no longer there for some reason, and also not cross referenced on their ‘Politics’, ‘Big News’ OR ‘Sarah Palin’ pages. It would seem they have decided to down play the article.

Is this like “but I didn’t inhale?”
A lot of people with “abstinence only” backgrounds don’t think that oral or a. sex is real sex, so what exactly does she mean by “not consumated” one wonders

I never excused or forgave Bill Clinton. IMHO if you can lie successfully to your spouse about an extramarital affair, then you’re much too good a liar to be President of the United States! Same goes for Sarah Palin.

While a person having an affair certainly is out of the ordinary for anyone in any country the fact Sara is the right wing religious cults poster child and she is running on family values and a better than thou platform this should be front and center in all news medias just like the John Edwards story.
People should be blogging CNN constantly trying to goad them into dealing with this story in the same manner they dealt with the Edwards story with almost a weeks total coverage. CNN will not print the first 500 posts to keep people from knowing the truth but if enough people keep posting they will cave in and talk about the truth.

If this had been a Democrat, this story would be on EVERY frigging newspaper cover in the country, but since it’s a Rethug the story is relegated to the tabloids.
Americans are only shown what the powers that be want them to see, that is why we keep electing the same people over and over again.

I don’t care if a political leader has an affair per se, but I care a lot if he or she is blackmailable, and by that I mean politically blackmailable. Clinton and Edwards are no longer blackmailable; is Palin?

Sounds to me like it’s you people who are the wicked authoritarians. If this were true, and it’s not, so what. People break up. But so far, she hasn’t… so you can cool the hatred and authoritarian gasping for now.
