Nation Deeply Divided Between “closed minded…hostile people on the left” Who “think they are intellectually superior” and…Who?
…I know I am, but what are you?
Somebody tell me: if we think we “are intellectually superior”, than what does the right think about themselves? Remember Gayle Quinnell? Who is HER intellectual superior?….Hmmm?
If we are “closed-minded” and “hostile”, what are they?
Why is it that while there are so manyvideos of ignorant, angry and racist McCain supporters, and nothing close about left-leaning folks? Is it because the Right are too polite to post videos of hostile racists on the Left?
I post this as a record of our times because it is an “important cultural piece” - Mike Barnicle.
…As much for the content as for the the Morning Joe commentators (paid shills) who describe Obama supporters in the hyperbolic, contradictory terms that more closely resemble their own side. It’s become almost surreal. No, it IS surreal.
“Morning Joe” co-host Willie Geist set out to find McCain supporters on New York’s famously liberal Upper West Side, putting on a McCain-Palin t-shirt and parking himself in front of the legendary Jewish deli Zabar’s. He ended up finding one Republican couple, but not before being greeted with scorn and bewilderment by passersby, many of whom said that they didn’t know a single person in the neighborhood who is planning to vote for John McCain.
Back in the studio, Mika Brzezniski and Mike Barnicle were deeply disturbed by the way Willie was received in the neighborhood. Barnicle said, “That is an important cultural piece, and it proves why so many people are so right — no pun intended — to really loathe so many on the left. Those people are so close-minded.”
“Loathe so many on the left. Those people are so close-minded.”????
In 1938, the average educated German “loathed” the Nazi Party too. Was THAT closed-minded?
In Washington D.C., Joe Scarborough — who often complains that Democrats fail to see beyond the Upper West Side and Georgetown — said, “There’s some really, really hostile people on the left who just think that they are intellectually superior.”
People on the left ARE intellectually superior (statistically) according to scientific studies.* Whether or not they “think” it, I can’t say.
Also intellectually superior are republicans crossing over to vote for Obama
* I’ll make an exception for the unfortunate few, very bright whose tribal loyalty precludes them from being honest with themselves as is the case with far too many Utahns. But we will see on November 4, the largest percentage since Nixon days of Utahns voting for the democratic presidential candidate. Thats a promise.

I think, therefore I am conservative.
I am emotional, therefore I am liberal.

Barack Obama has announced he intends to “bankrupt the coal industry” By imposing a %100 percent tax on carbon emissions. The united states gets almost half its power with coal and any viable alternative is decades away. If he does this electricity is going to become a rare commodity in this country.
He wont stop at coal. Soon you will pay %100 percent of gasses that are emitted from your car. If your rich you will be able to afford it. If your poor Obama will subsidies you. If your middle class then lights out for you baby. We still have a few days to stop this mad man from destroying our country.
What is next the flatulence tax?

Wille Geist was just fooling around– he’s not actually a McCain supporter and everyone knows it. The people he met on the street were bemused, not hostile at all. One lady wanted to know if his McCain/Palin t-shirt was a Halloween costume, then laughed and said it was “scary.”
There’s just no comparison with the videos we’ve seen of the angry right-wingers who really support McCain.

Patriot, never going to happen.
Americans are not going to live in a hovel without electricity like Obama’s brother, and even his illegal alien Auntie will have electricty, in her case likely provided by nuclear power, or the giant enviro killer hydro project up in Quebec.
Good ‘Ol Boston has the social programs down. Why do you figure Auntie decided to stay there?

Close-minded? Hostile? Scorn? Troubling? Intellectually superior? There was none of that in the video. These hacks had their talking points made up beforehand and tried to make a video to fit them . . . they failed.

Great post Cliff!
What a contrast between the videos. Watching them and then hearing these pundits from another planet giving their opinions is stunning. Clock melting surreal to be sure! How does Keith Olbermann cope with sharing a channel employing these strange folks. Things have been turned upside down in our heads by these types for so long, we have brain damage. They are just drones who echo strategic political phrases. Damn them!
The liberals in the video are the people you’d like to have a beer with, along with a good conversation but we got told we wanted to have a beer with someone who stares into space while completely sober. Bush’s first Secretary of the Treasury documented it. He went to his first meeting with Bush and did all the talking. Bush just sat there and didn’t say anything for something like 40 minutes. They would invite him to other meetings and hand him a piece of paper with things he could talk about or say. He must have wondered if somebody slipped him some acid.
I’m so tired of this hallucinatory nightmare.

Larry, I’m with you. I went out to see “W” at the movies yesterday. It was painful - like reliving a nightmare. Even though Oliver Stone did a good job with it, it was hard to sit through that compressed version of our national nightmare of the last 8 years.

The people in that video were hostile? They stated thier political views. I guess not supporting McCain is now considered being hostile.
