McCain’s concession speech

The audience is booing every time he mentions Obama. God they suck.

“America offers opportunities to all who have the industry and will to sieze it.”

“Let there be no reason now for any American to fail to cherish their citizenship in this the greatest nation on earth.”

“These are difficult times for our country and I pledge to do all in power to help him lead us through the challenges we face. . . Join me in offering our next president our goodwill and earnest effort.”

“No association has ever meant more to me than that (of fellow-Americans).”

But McCain is giving a decent speech. This was a dignified and decent speech.

He seems to have less and less patience with the booers. He has far more class than the campaign he ran. Proves to me what I thought all along, he was a victim of his handlers.

  2. Cliff Lyon Says:

McCain seemed uncomfortable with the booing. They were brown shirts I’m tellin ya. The hardcores are a scary bunch.

  3. Richard Warnick Says:

Tonight we got a glimpse of the other John McCain I went out and campaigned for in 2000. He’s been in hiding most of the last six years, but it’s good to know he’s still alive.

Why are you upset with the boo-ing? Suprised? The folks there are the die hards. They had a lot invested in the campaign.

Did you think they’d be celebrating in the streets.

Look, Gore lost in 2000. Kerry in 2004. It’s taken most of you until this moment to get over it.

Put the shoe on the other foot. Would you have been applauding John & Sarah had Barack been making the concession speech?

    Allow them their dissapointment.

Cliff - you should really try to get past the Nazi imagery. It’s so shallow. So cliche.

  5. Cliff Lyon Says:

    Uh JD,

I cannot remember a concession speech in which the audience of the losing party BOOED at the mention of the name of the opponent to whom the candidate is attempting to concede with some measure of grace.

Were you raised in a barn?

    Really?

You do follow politics, don’t you?

  7. Richard Warnick Says:

When President-Elect Obama mentioned Senator McCain a few minutes ago in his speech in Chicago, the crowd cheered.

  8. jdberger Says:

    because he won, you dolt.

  9. Cliff Lyon Says:

    Dolt? Prove it!

Find me evidence the Kerry or Gore crowds booed.

  10. jdberger Says:

No Cliff. This one’s on you.

  11. jdberger Says:

maybe you never saw this, Cliff?

    jd:

the crowd acted in bad taste. can we agree?

  13. jdberger Says:

Yes. We can agree on that. I don’t like poor losers.

I’m not a big fan of booing in general. I think it’s gauche.

    But upset? Brownshirts? Hyperbole, maybe?

    Quit whining.

  14. John Cheshire Says:

JD - Give these guys a break. They have been running on BDS andrenaline for the last 8 years and it is hard coming down. I would imagine that Cliff is going to need an IV. They will spend the next 12 - 16 months inventing things to be mad at the “Bushcohaliburtonneoconnazi’s” for until they realize, “Oh crap we are in charge now……”

  15. Alan Ricks Says:

Well McCain’s Final leg of campaigning went non stop for 22 hours. He is a man of great stamina, at least we can say he gave it his all, and is gracious in defeat.

  16. C av Says:

John Cheshire and Alan Ricks have made two good points.

    Now…Impeach Bush and Cheney!
