I’ll take Ethics for $200, Alex. Our state legislature is trying to pull the same stunt they did on term limits. They’ll pass an ethics bill so that they can tell us we shouldn’t vote for the citizen initiative in November. If the trick works and the initiative fails, they’ll quietly relax the ethics rules a couple of years from now.

Utah is a national disgrace, with no limits on campaign contributions and politicians encouraged to line their own pockets six ways from Sunday. While they do a “holier than thou” act in public.

Great job on Radio Active! While I enjoy the other two bloggers on the show, One Utah is my favorite. Maybe it’s because One Utah has several bloggers.

HB72 is a bill that NEEDS to be passed. It requires that a seismic safety evaluation be completed on every school in the state. This will give the school districts and state an idea of which schools would perform poorly during an earthquake. Then the state and school districts could take the list and begin retrofitting or rebuilding schools as the budget allowed. The State Legislatures are worried that if they have the list and don’t act that they could be liable, I say that if they don’t ever look they are liable. For the safety of our children that they require to attend these schools this bill needs to pass.

bbart – thanks it was fun! I’ve been on RadioActive a couple times now and I think last night’s was the best. Misty, Curtis and I may be back again in a few weeks to do a mid-session check in. I’ll keep things updated.
