In Something Unknowable We Trust

Anybody who claims they know who or what God is, is a jackass and shouldn’t sit on any privileged bench. In my opinion, no person is more sacred then any other. People who impose rules on others had better understand these simple concepts.

Nobody is perfect. Doctors with the best of intentions make mistakes and I’m positive judges are no different. Maybe our judges are overworked, maybe even underpaid, but what I’m talking about here are judges who knowingly make rules specifically to help people of their own beliefs or faiths.

I have a couple of questions about a couple of recent court decisions which seem suspicious to me:

Under whose unknowable concept are we indivisible? I thought we were founded upon freedom or lack of religion.

And…

Why are Texas judges attempting to remove the author of The Declaration of Independence from American textbooks?

Despite the fact that Chris Hedges has become increasingly despondent and depressing to hear and read over the years, he and Steven Colbert provided one of the funniest interviews I’ve ever seen on February 8, 2007. Although horrifyingly scary, I offer it here for a bit of comic relief.

In case you didn’t catch it because of your crappy and expensive American internet connection, Chris Hedges is a Christian. He also has the last word/s on Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story” DVD.

Dial-up or, I imagine, most portable phone devices will not be able to see the Colbert segment. It was choppy for me as well.

Hannity or Beck could be heard, for free, coast to coast, border to border without interruption. Beck even threatened to kill Michael Moore, but…

    What the hell, eh?

    Cliff:

I hope you’re not getting Chris Hedges mixed up with Christopher Hitchens who is crazy. I used to do that all the time.

I’ve agreed with YOU an occasion. That’s the only thing that would make me crazy. :)

    Oops!

I guess I’m technologically challenged. If you leave the cursor on the arrow at the bottom of the first section of the special features in the “Capitalism: A Love Story” DVD, you can get more special features. Chris Hedges depressing segment isn’t the last word on the DVD.

In fact, there are some wonderful and hopeful segments about co-ops around the world, where people use the “one man, one vote” concept to run their gardens and businesses with great success. Instead of one guy making hundreds of times what the other employees make, it’s more like 25 times and is based on what the other employees think you’re contributing to the company. That way, everybody in the company share in the success or failure of the whole. Not a bad idea at all, and it works!
