Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

For those who haven’t been keeping up with Marshall Thompson’s walk to advocate an end to the war in Iraq, he recently went to Washington, D.C. for the last day of his journey. Check out his journal for full details.
Although very skeptical of the hyperpartisanship on Capitol Hill, Marshall met with Senator Barbara Boxer, [...]

Hubris

Friday, November 10th, 2006

The George Bush administration has just finished experiencing one stage of what Aristotle termed “Hubris.” The Greek masters of comedy and tragedy told the story much better. Flying into the sun until your wax wings melt and you plummet to earth, and land miraculously, on an aircraft carrier in full battle-dress, never mind [...]

A Blast From The Past

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Jim Matheson plays the fear (post)card. He sent me one.

You may have gotten one of these too. I think it’s safe to say pretty much everyone in Utah is against nuclear testing, and Rep. Jim Matheson and Senator Orrin Hatch both have done a good job representing our point of view in [...]

James Baker’s Iraq Study Group plans to offer two options, neither of which fits the Bush administration’s concept of victory
President Bush likes to say he’s committed to keeping U.S. forces in Iraq, no matter what. According to Bob Woodward, his exact words were, “I will not withdraw even if Laura and Barney are the [...]

Walking with Marshall Thompson

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

This morning I spent two hours walking with Marshall Thompson and his cheerful platoon of veterans, peace advocates, concerned citizens and even a Democratic candidate for Congress, Steve Olsen. The rain failed to dampen spirits, and we got lots of friendly honks from passing cars.

A Soldiers Peace: Walk with Utah Iraq War Veteran

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Army Sgt. and Iraq War Veteran Marshall Thompson
The goal is to walk from the Utah/Idaho border to the Utah/Arizona border in 27 days, that’s one day for every 100 soldiers who have died in Iraq. The trip will cover almost 500 miles and I’ll have to average about 20 miles a day.
Walking, in and [...]

Free to Run Wild

From Glenn Greenwald
“…….a desire to see the Democrats take over Congress — even a strong desire for that outcome and willingness to work for it — does not have to be, and at least for me is not, driven by a belief that Washington Democrats are commendable or praiseworthy and deserve to be put into [...]
